do we have more such engines in stock ?
Ukr won't be supplying us engines aymore (st least not now)
whole engines in stock? No, none. And there's your answer for why no follow on orders for the P15Bs, we are redesigning around the Rolls Royce solution.

but we have enough spares to keep the fleet running, and Adani will setup a spares/engine manufacturing site here soon

other than Anantha Krishnan, is there any other news source which confirmed that TAPAS has been taken off mission mode?

or is it the case that everyone is basing all the plethora of analysis and opinions, based on one single data point?
Before he broke the news 3-5 accounts were talking about it too 1 month ago before this news broke do it's been active on Twitter for quite some time now as for confirmation only January will tell if the first flight does happen for Archer ng and to accounts saying Archer ng is heron mk2 I don't see it specs are completely different

But still Army corrupt & destroying Tapas right ? RIGHT ?

Whatever trash ADE/DRDO creates Armed forces must swallow it no questions asked like a disgusting medicine isn't it ?

Where are my desi knigga fanboys who thought the only issue was Tapas service ceiling ?

My take 👇

At this point, I am pretty sure higher-ups in ADE are compromised by foreign intelligence and hellbent on failing any and every project handed over to them.

I would like to pose an question
There has been enormous mud slinging on the Tapas design. People saying that the design is shit, is like a brick waiting to fall from the sky etc.
Categorizing it as an sub optimum design which is aerodynamically unstable for an UAV.And it being a design inferior to the twin boom design.

Now we have seen a lot of general comments being made against the Tapas and the design choices made by the Project Team.

What is the actual truth.
Has an professional analysis and comparison been made between the Tapas design and the Heron like twin boom design.
What are the pros and cons of each design.
Listing out the advantages and disadvantages of each.
Obviously an study made by a person with aircraft engineering knowledge will be preferred.

Did the ADE really fuck up or is it an victim of an well orchestrated disinformation campaign. An attempt to sabotage an indigenous effort and make India dependent on imports.

For tapas I was always in favour of armed forces they clearly gave a requirement at start that needed to be filled without changing it if ADE can't do it then it's out of question to blame Forces as simple as that.

That's the point fanboys are unable to understand.

Army from start stated they want a MALE UAV with this & this requirement. The requirements were not at all outrageous or unreachable, very reasonable.

DRDO/ADE had decades to make it, whatever & however they want. They failed to deliver, again & again, simple.

2010 - concept proposed,
2013 - taxi trials,
2016 - first flight,
2020 - 8 hrs flight,
feb 2023 - 18hrs flight officially announced .
dec 2023 - news comes that TAPAS has been taken off mission mode.

we can say, maturity in tech not yet achieved. but it will not be the case that, all of sub-components that went into the TAPAS have failed. what ever percentage of sub-components which have achieved desired outcomes, less work will be required in the next iterations.

at this point all we can say, is that we don't know the full story, other than the fact that the project failed to meet PSQR.

one aspect which we don't take into account is that, if it is a govt project they have to follow tender process. tender process for sub-components itself adds to the time lines. haven't seen any publicly available research on how much this process adds to the over all timelines.

How's Adani come into the picture here ? Hasn't Bharat Forge picked up a majority stake in Zorya Mashproekt - India ?

Good luck achieving those stated flight parameters with a piston engine.
Turboprops were not to be used as they cost atleast 10x more.
Also, the Late Gen Bipin Rawat had stated that the Armed Forces should induct a said platform even if it satisfies 70% of the requirements stated in the GSQR, what happened to that?
