Because IA wanted a single caliber across the whole spectrum.
One would imagine A low recoil 105mm loaded on 4x4 UV would be useful(like the Kalyani Garuda 2) in mountains. I think Army already took trials of the gun in mountains(there was some video some where) and there were rumors that the Army was interested in the gun?

Yeah, as per them IA is showing interest in this system as of now. The only reason for that is its low signature. But if you ask me about a more potent system tested by IA, it would be the TATA version.

Why not Garuda
Won't that be ordered
Afaik there is rfi for 105 mm guns
When I said it won't be ordered?

All I said that if we go by preference, IMO, TATA has more plus point then Kalyani. But when it comes to selling your system, all that matter is how much you can cash in on your USP.

If you go by RFI, TATA beats Kalyani hands down in that. It would be tiny bit of uniqueness which could make the difference in RFQ stage.

Tata version has the unbeaten unmodified OFB 105 mm slapped to 8x8. Yeah the platform would be super stable - thus more accurate. But highly unusable on the tight narrow ravine tracks like near Galwan. You need a Gun on 4x4 UV for that.

Yes. Kalyani has that USP.

But they gets beaten on another aspect.

Are you referring to Integration cost? Yes then that way any platform which slaps OFB105 mm on one of the many used vehicles in Army would always have edge. Integrating legacy systems would always be benefcial that ways. But then modernization would loose its meaning.

Any idea how does Mandus Kalyani 105 mm compare with OFB 105 mm ? I know former is light. But what about range and accuracy?

No. Indigenous Content.

With 37 Cal, the range you get would be same for both. The advantage of TATA would be with the number of shells it could carry along with flexibility of using it in full autonomous as well as manual mode.
