India has most of its targets within a few 200km of its border. It is prudent to not waste much money on making big missiles and instead make multiple smaller missile. It is a replacement to Prithvi 3 missile. Prahaar is a tactical missile to replace prithvi 1. All of these missiles are nuclear capable. It makes no sense to launch a missile without a big payload. Missiles are not cheap PGM that can be fired with small charges. Missiles are expensive, need TEL, storage and is complex technology. One does not waste such things by firing small payloads
Where is Prahaar? Pralay should ideally have 500-600 km range in order to threaten tibet and chinese infrastructure near our borders and to replace Prithvi-1/2 & 3. Agni-1P on can take care of 1000 km targets and beyond.
If and when Prahaar comes it should be built up in numbers to rain down metal on anything within 200 km range.

Wow. Wow. Wow.

Truly looks world class, so now we’ve seen all 3 Indian giants (TATA, Mahindra and AL) showcase their light support vehicles for IA’s LSV competition.

They’ve come a LONG way since the original TATA LSV and Mahindra ACE.

Sadly, where the rubber meets the road (IA actually ordering them) is the issue. Each defexpo we see great looking products but in the interveneing period we don’t see any orders for such.

Remember the TATA LAMV? Even Kestral is without orders till now.

IA needs to be cut by 30% so they can actually afford to pay for something other than the salaries of its men and women! Instead they’re EXPANDING their manpower. IA is a lost cause, Indian defence budget needs to be tripled/quadrupled just to meet the basic modernisation needs of the IA and that isn’t happening anytime soon.
Personally I don't agree with cutting down of manpower. I have my reasons which I don't want to say in a open forum.

It will be a epic security blunder

What I recommend is restructuring of the manpower so that wastage of human resources is avoided.

Manpower must be trained to become like Swiss multi purpose knife where ever possible with reasonable limits.

One must be the trend setter not a copy cat like indian military which many times apes the west etc. West cuts down manpower when they can't afford , when we cant afford should we cut down manpower or look for solutions befitting our security concerns and apply our unique ability to arrange a juggad solution with minimal compromises.

Be indian and think like an Indian- juggad zindabad lolzzz

It's not about apeing the West but applying logic to the situation, resources are finite, creating extra demand on those resoruces (manpower) only has a counter productive effect on the overall combat capabilities of the IA.

Becuase of mechinisaton and automation, a 30% cut in the manpower of the IA will EASILY result in a 400-500% increase in the overall firepower of the IA as a whole.
Another pic of kestrel with the new turret

They have tweaked the design at the front^

Compare it to the DRDO test vehicle:

Good to see that they aren't standing still, refinements are coming non-stop.

Looks and feels great!

Only nitpick I have is that for the size of its wheels the ground clearance is pretty low (especially in the front section) - it'll easily hit some rocks or small mounds on a rough terrain - even though the wheels look kickass to maneuver any terrain!
Ground clearance looks fine to me as the wheels are placed towards the front and rear of the vehicle with little overhang. Reminds me of the Jackel a bit:

What's most interesting about the LSVs that are coming out now is that they have flat cargo beds:

This is very JLTV-esque, will allow the markers to create an entire family of vehicles from the same platform.

What's the purpose of the Ashok Leyland truck ie the unidentifiable load / thing on its back ?
Isn't that a BM-21 Grad launcher?

AL truck looks very similar to TATA defence trucks:

Starts at 5:16.

Watch the whole video, because there is more info of the gun in general - Like they produce a less maintenance intensive, heavier variant in steel, and a light titanium one.
1) ATAGS has very few issues other than weight which they are bringing down, second prototype from BF will be ready for trails come July
2) BF have set up a plant to produce 250 ATAGS/year

Just give them the order FFS, 1000 towed ATAGS for BF, 400 ATAGS MGS/SPG for whomever can make the better MGS and SPG versions.

ATAGS is simply a class apart, it can change the face of Indian arty.
