So how long is Pralay? If it is meant to be a low threshold non nuclear missile (why else 1 tonne payload) then it makes sense to have it as compact as possible.
India has most of its targets within a few 200km of its border. It is prudent to not waste much money on making big missiles and instead make multiple smaller missile. It is a replacement to Prithvi 3 missile. Prahaar is a tactical missile to replace prithvi 1. All of these missiles are nuclear capable. It makes no sense to launch a missile without a big payload. Missiles are not cheap PGM that can be fired with small charges. Missiles are expensive, need TEL, storage and is complex technology. One does not waste such things by firing small payloads

Next, the payload is not a burnable part of the missile. The burnable part of missile (propellant) imparts a certain momentum which is constant irrespective of warhead. So, the velocity of the warhead should increase with mass decrease/ By conservation of momentum, the velocity must be doubled for mass being halved.

Even if we take the viscosity to increase with velocity and thereby dampening the increase in speed, the range should still be higher than just 15% increase

May I suggest that you go back and ask for a full refund of your high school tuition (i.e. if you did go to one!).
Total liftoff weight = 5 tonnes
Reduced liftoff weight = 4.5 tonnes

But you think the liftoff velocity will double because of 10% reduction in weight? Where is total mass being halved? Do you know the difference between payload mass & total mass?

You're probably thinking of slingshots/catapult - something you must be playing with in your 'dehaat'! Slingshot/catapults will only propel the payloads without any need for propellant/rocket-motor etc to fly along!

As the propellant burns out, the mass of the rocket keeps decreasing. But the speed of the exhaust remain same. So, the initial difference in acceleration of 10% will become difference of 20% by the time 50% propellant is burnt. Similarly, by the rime 90% propellant burns, the difference will be 35% and by the time entire propellant is expended the difference in acceleration will be 50% or half (all of the % is wrt 1ton payload).

When you take the difference of acceleration 9ver the entire course, you will find that it varies significantly. 10% us the minimum and maximum is 50%

Firstly, you need to learn some simple math!
Secondly, don't assume that just by playing with some 'dehaati' slingshot you've become smarter than the rocket scientists!!

Even if I humor your analysis:
Total weight as last kg of propellant is burnt(1 T payload) : 1000(payload) + 1060(casing/motor) = 2060kg
Total weight as last kg of propellant is burnt(0.5 T payload) : 500 (payload) + 1060(casing/motor) = 1560kg

So, even the FINAL moment's momentum is LESS than 25% more in the lower payload case!
Given all other aspects :
-increased drag
-reduced stability (I bet you didn't know that less weight on top reduces stability) &
-the fact that x % increase in VELOCITY OF TRAJECTORY will only increase horizontal velocity by only 85%of x%

............it's not inconceivable that the total increase in range is about 15%

I have explained things in a logical and reasonable fashion. If you still want to blabber, please pick someone else!!!

India’s missile development programme is going through a rough patch, with another snag hitting the home-made quick reaction surface-to-air missile (QRSAM) during tests at the Balasore range in Odisha Monday.
The QRSAM system, being developed as an add-on to the Akash air defence missiles that are already in service with the Army and Air Force, has now undergone four tests, of which at least two have been unsuccessful.
Sources said during the latest test, the missile took off from its launcher successfully, but rolled uncontrollably during flight before ditching into the Bay of Bengal. The missile is being developed by DRDO’s Hyderabad missile complex, and top officials were present at the test site during the trial.
It is learnt that the DRDO leadership team on missile systems is studying the failure and is trying to find the root cause of the problem. Previous trials of the missile were conducted in June, July and December last year.
As reported by ThePrint, during the 22 December test, the missile hit turbulence within 1.5 seconds of taking off, as an actuator did not respond to a software command. The QRSAM is supposed to take down fast moving incoming air targets like missiles and fighter jets at extremely short notice.
India has been planning to showcase the Akash as a Made in India missile that is available for exports. In fact, the missile is being showcased at the Defence Expo near Chennai this week to possible customers who will be visiting the show. In addition, the Indo-Russian Brahmos missile is also being displayed at the India pavilion during the event, as an export option to friendly foreign nations.
The QRSAM is a recent DRDO project that was undertaken to meet demands of both the Air Force and the Army. The services had requested for imports to meet urgent requirements for air defence missiles, which were turned down after DRDO assured that it could develop the system indigenously.

We’ve had decades of these assholes talking Indian products down and even now they still are despite all the successes we have seen demonstrated

Do they? So far they’ve only shown (a pretty under developed it must be said) 105mm MGS (Garuda) so far

Yes, they have a MGS of the 155mm/39cal, but it's at a specific location the PM will be visiting. This is mentioned by Baba himself. This is not the 105mm Garuda.

Truly looks world class, so now we’ve seen all 3 Indian giants (TATA, Mahindra and AL) showcase their light support vehicles for IA’s LSV competition.

They’ve come a LONG way since the original TATA LSV and Mahindra ACE.

Sadly, where the rubber meets the road (IA actually ordering them) is the issue. Each defexpo we see great looking products but in the interveneing period we don’t see any orders for such.

Remember the TATA LAMV? Even Kestral is without orders till now.


IA needs to be cut by 30% so they can actually afford to pay for something other than the salaries of its men and women! Instead they’re EXPANDING their manpower. IA is a lost cause, Indian defence budget needs to be tripled/quadrupled just to meet the basic modernisation needs of the IA and that isn’t happening anytime soon.

Looks and feels great!

Only nitpick I have is that for the size of its wheels the ground clearance is pretty low (especially in the front section) - it'll easily hit some rocks or small mounds on a rough terrain - even though the wheels look kickass to maneuver any terrain!
