Likely the internal filling is more dense wings cant be that heavyView attachment 172800
Ok, so I just noticed this but what kind of metal or composite wings are required to make a non winged 550kg guided bomb with same dimensions to a near 1000kg bomb. Where is 400ish extra kgs go or maybe they just misprinted the specs?
However, sources said that in the recent validation trials -- carried out between July and September -- the system failed to even detect and engage hovering helicopters at low altitude and minimum range. As attack helicopters are a primary threat to advancing armoured formations, this underperformance by the surveillance radars of the system has raised alarm bells within the establishment.
Any DRDO gurus kindly clarify. @Chinmoy @porky_kickerthe system was observed to have limited mobility due to excessive size and weight, which renders it inefficient to move across uneven terrain with advancing formations. Sources added that the firing success rate was also unimpressive, with only half the missiles hitting the designated targets
And just few days back it conducted multiple successful trials , seems a hitjobQuick reaction missile induction to be delayed; deficiencies found during trials
Sanctioned in 2014, the project is already running five years behind schedule and corrective measures would be required to meet the operational requirements of the armed forces. Sources aware of the recent trials told ET that deficiencies were observed when it comes to the mobility...economictimes.indiatimes.com

The 550 kg is a misprint. As far as I remember, both of these were 1000 kg bombs.View attachment 172800

Don't worry, modiji will induct everything indigenious, I will bet that we will be seeing no further imports regards to radars, AD systems, artillery guns etcRIP in advance
Sometimes I feel that life of a Dalal must be pretty easy, all you have to do is say that the indigenous equipment is overweight and end of the discussion, now the forces will go to emergency importsQuick reaction missile induction to be delayed; deficiencies found during trials

There was a agreement signed a year back to develop air-launched drones with US, god know what happened. Is this the "niche" tech transfer/sharing our rakshamantri talked about?
With an eye on China, US to develop drones with India
In 2016, the United States designated India as a 'major defense partner,' and since then, the two countries have signed agreements that facilitate transfers of top-grade arms and deepen military cooperation.www.livemint.com
Why does it look like a lollipop.

Happy to see that aside from the Army, they are also planning to roll out this product for the civilian market. Army has much more stringent requirements so they might not make the cut in the first few iterations. But marketing the product to civilians is certainly the way to go forward, ensuring a steady revenue stream that can be replowed into the R&D to eventually make this tech worthy enough for Army. We need thousands of such ventures in India. What do u guys think about itEngineers Design Light-Weight AI Jackets to Keep Soldiers Warm in Himalayan Winters

More important than sensors, its the textile tech here that is more impressive. Just how impressive it really is something only the trials will tell. Still its heartening to see that they are working on something like this and are able to get the Army to trial it. Don't think it would have been possible few years ago.Nothing, just weeping we have so few of these science experiments going on, that a jacket with sensors needs to be celebrated.
