However, sources said that in the recent validation trials -- carried out between July and September -- the system failed to even detect and engage hovering helicopters at low altitude and minimum range. As attack helicopters are a primary threat to advancing armoured formations, this underperformance by the surveillance radars of the system has raised alarm bells within the establishment.
the system was observed to have limited mobility due to excessive size and weight, which renders it inefficient to move across uneven terrain with advancing formations. Sources added that the firing success rate was also unimpressive, with only half the missiles hitting the designated targets
Any DRDO gurus kindly clarify. @Chinmoy @porky_kicker

Mannu Pubby. I don't trust him. That too "unnamed sources".
More importantly, he has listed every single problem that could have been possible under the sun:-
1.) Too heavy
2.) Not mobile enough
3.) Frequent breakdowns on a DAILY basis
4.) Radar couldn't even see helicopter at minimum range
5.) An active rf guided missile not hitting target more than half the time

I mean one or two problems would have been believable but EVERYTHING being wrong? And then he goes on to explain how this is supposed to replace Osa. Now ask him how much Osa weighs and why a Tatra 8X8 would have lower mobility and higher weight than the Osa? Bold-faced lies.
He expects us to believe that a GaN AESA radar purpose built for the job was unable to detect a helicopter at minimum range?

This reeks of a hitjob.

Ok, so I just noticed this but what kind of metal or composite wings are required to make a non winged 550kg guided bomb with same dimensions to a near 1000kg bomb. Where is 400ish extra kgs go or maybe they just misprinted the specs?
The 550 kg is a misprint. As far as I remember, both of these were 1000 kg bombs.

Don't worry, modiji will induct everything indigenious, I will bet that we will be seeing no further imports regards to radars, AD systems, artillery guns etc

Sometimes I feel that life of a Dalal must be pretty easy, all you have to do is say that the indigenous equipment is overweight and end of the discussion, now the forces will go to emergency imports
Anyway just check the articles from this guy, you'll find a very clear trend
Here is a hack for new defense enthusiasts, just ignore the whole article if it contains unconfirmed sources and especially if it is written there that the source wishes not to be identified
Here is a gem from the article, sanctioned in 2014 now it has been 8 yrs, it claims it has delays of 5 yrs. Now tell which Super powa country on this earth design develop tests extensively a SAM system within a period of 3 yrs. Mind it that first test took place in 2017, so super fast development from the date of sanction if you ask me, now the only pain is that testing period is more than development period including prototype rollover.
So will you believe the word of DRDO or some unnamed sources, pick your juice

Is this the "niche" tech transfer/sharing our rakshamantri talked about?

Why does it look like a lollipop.

There was a agreement signed a year back to develop air-launched drones with US, god know what happened.

What do u guys think about it
Nothing, just weeping we have so few of these science experiments going on, that a jacket with sensors needs to be celebrated.

Happy to see that aside from the Army, they are also planning to roll out this product for the civilian market. Army has much more stringent requirements so they might not make the cut in the first few iterations. But marketing the product to civilians is certainly the way to go forward, ensuring a steady revenue stream that can be replowed into the R&D to eventually make this tech worthy enough for Army. We need thousands of such ventures in India.

More important than sensors, its the textile tech here that is more impressive. Just how impressive it really is something only the trials will tell. Still its heartening to see that they are working on something like this and are able to get the Army to trial it. Don't think it would have been possible few years ago.

What is AI powered smart jackets? Seems more like marketing gimmick.
Most of this AI powered system are just clever programming.
One needs to maintain 25-30 degree C inside jacket which will be best achieved with traditional PID controller.
