What would be the tentative weight reduction???Confirmed! Arjun Mk. II MBT is getting rubber composite wheels, don't know if it's getting rubber composite track as well. Will upload pics later.

Shaurya is the surface version of K15. Shaurya is in deployed state since 2013.They say it flew at 7.5 mach which is surely hypersonic but there were no further tests ,was it just a tech Demonstrater ?
Shaurya is a single stage missile. It wasnt tested for once but many times. The mid course (once the warhead vehicle is released ) and terminal stage is hypersonic.

Thats a great news. A rubber composite track is what we should have thought long ago. But I hope this time its both wheels and track.Confirmed! Arjun Mk. II MBT is getting rubber composite wheels, don't know if it's getting rubber composite track as well. Will upload pics later.
It has a boost glide trajectory vehicle .Shaurya is a single stage missile.
No dude, it's Two stage missile.Shaurya is a single stage missile.
Time has come for collaboration between ISRO and DRDO for fusion of technologies. The net outcome will have manifold use for diverse purposes, ISRO Chairman K Sivan has said.
“While we (ISRO) talk about radar, you (DRDO) talk about sonar. The operating principles are the same. There exists a big platform for mutual cooperation,” he said while inaugurating ICONS 2018, an international conference on sonar systems and sensors, here.
Presiding over the function, DRDO Chairman S Christopher said his organisation is keen to enter into fruitful collaborations with academia and industries in India and abroad in the field of defence science and technology.
The Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), engaged in the research and development of sonar systems and allied technologies, has always enjoyed a symbiotic relationship with the Indian Navy. As a result, NPOL systems have been successfully deployed on naval ships and submarines, he said.
S Kedarnath Shenoy, Director, NPOL, said the thrust areas of its R&D are signal processing and imaging, underwater acoustics, electronics, engineering systems, transducers, materials and oceanography. The laboratory has developed hull-mounted sonar systems for ships and submarines, and towed-array sonar and airborne sonar for the Indian Navy.
NPOL has made it possible for the country to master the technologies and come up with indigenous innovations and solutions, and its success has contributed to the nation’s self-reliance in these vital fields, he added.
The three-day meet is being organised by NPOL, Kochi, the systems laboratory of DRDO.
I have to calculate it first. DRDO won't rest until Army buys the improved Arjun Mk. II MBTWhat would be the tentative weight reduction???
Any info on whether these rubber composites handle heat and stress? So here it is as promised.
[P.S. Arjun MK.II MBT = A2 (Bas aise he)]
Weight of each steel road wheel of A2 = 63kg
Weight of each rim wheel of of A2 = 15kg
____________
Each Rubber Composite (RC) Road Wheel = 45kg
Each Rubber Composite (RC) Rim Wheel = 5kg
View attachment 23674
_________________
Each A2 have 32 Road Wheels and 16 Rim Wheels. 2 Road Wheels are stacked together.
View attachment 23675
Meaning on each side A2 has 16 Road Wheels and 8 Rim Wheels
____________
Calculation of Weight Reduction of A2
Steel Road Wheels + Steel Rim Wheels
= (63 x 32) + (15 x 16)
= 2016 + 240
= 2256 kg
RC Road Wheels + RC Rim Wheels
= (45 x 32) + (5 x 16)
= 1440 + 80
= 1520 kg
Total weight reduction
= 2256 - 1520
= 736kg
So the weight reduction is a huge 740kg on just wheels. It doesn't even includes weight reduction of using composites + high nitrogen steel on chassis and a possible rubber composite track as well.
Just in case if you are thinking if Arjun really have 32 road wheels? Here's some help. 8 wheels are visible here. Two wheels are stacked together. And same goes to opposite side.

We can surely expect 6-8 ton reduction of weight of Arjun Mk. II MBT by last quarter of this year, and hopefully with indigenous 1500hp engine.
India is still working in 'Boost Glide Vehicle'. It is yet to be tested. Shaurya doesn't have a RV.It has a boost glide trajectory vehicle .

Ofcourse it can, this isn't some rubber for school kids. It's military grade. A 49km trial is too planned.Any info on whether these rubber composites handle heat and stress?
Dude, the booster is not taken as first stage. It has a gas generator, a booster and then a whole single stage with Warhead. Now if you want to consider booster as first stage I've no issue. No dude, it's Two stage missile.

It does actually. It's fitted with HAM (High Altitude Motor(s)) for boost GlideIndia is still working in 'Boost Glide Vehicle'. It is yet to be tested. Shaurya doesn't have a RV.
Flight altitude of Shaurya is 40 Km. So no question of RV. HSTDV is our boost glide vehicle. It does actually. It's fitted with HAM (High Altitude Motor(s)) for boost Glide

Good analysis. How steel and rubber composite wheels differ in performance and abilities? So here it is as promised.
