Sometime back it was repoted that the plan to procure 30 qty MQ9B drones were dropped.

Reason for earlier cancellation was

India now wants to manufacture and develop all kinds of weapons and defence equipments on indigenous development and manufacturing. This is the reason that this USD 3 billion deal with America has been cancelled as of now.

Great, now IAF can build up its force with mk2, and it become the backbone of iaf.
IAF need around 15 sqn of lca/mwf, and keep increasing due lack of new fighter jet order.
AMCA going to take a long time from td/prto to final mk2 foc.
Also, mk2 first aircraft is similar to lsp/mass production & amca first will be td/proto, and different from lsp.
