I don't think our ecosystem is in a place where we can drive that hard bargain of 51% or above across the board. First we need to get players in the game, and give them orders to work with. Once they taste the blood, they'll themselves indigenize and achieve performance parameters- while making sure that not only the oldies Tatas and Mahindras get the orders but also startups who are innovative and can do backbreaking research in shorter duration.

I call bullshit on that. Doesn't make any sense at all. There has the be explicit requirement in enough numbers to warrant anything. Last time I checked, army has not put any wheeled apc/ifv requirement.

Infact its a good news for Kestrel. L&T investing in a wheeled platform indicates that there is enough chances of IA going for wheeled APC/ICV. Hope they also make a tracked one based on it.
