Moderation in DFI is very SOFT!

Where i am from, Mods dont delete the posts but infrared the member first and keep his post there :)
And below states a warning..

Under infraction no PMs nothing..

DFI represent INDIA`s Defense forces, Their are many have no idea abt Indian Forces and frankly no one cares, Only few who do makes a difference like DFI over net..

So, Make it better every day, Contribute your best every day..

Militaryphotos.net is a good example, they allow all sorts of opinions, but the moment it goes against their core values and anti-western, they stump you down. Chinese and Pakistani's or anyone can say anything, but we know the tones and attitude of some, we know what they really want to achieve here, the moment they cross the threshold of core values and interest of India and DFI, we have to come down on them.

I also believe this constant baiting of Indians following Islamic religion by others is not appreciable. Some line has to be drawn but without hindering the free speech of others, and also allowing others to questioning islamic religion, which has its own set of problems.

so mods call will be final. right? even though the mod finds an highquality post as low-quality for his own personal reasons.? is there anyway to have third opinion? you should first set a guidelines to identify low-quality post from high-quality.

i am bringing up this question because there are few mods (won't mention name) in GeoAffairs.com who constantly bugs everyone with his own home-mades rules all the time.

of-course i know that "There are moderators for it" :D
Actually, NO. Unless it's a routine thing which does not require any "consultation", we at DFI even as a mod "report" any post we come across as needing a "review". The reported post is discussed in staff and action taken there after. The mod who reports the post may not be the one who takes final action as he may report a post and then be offline and a couple of other mods might then come on, read the other mods comment and then form an opinion to take necessary action.

DFI is a lot more transparent forum than you would imagine.

Some times even some major thread is locked after discussion in staff and opened after necessary moderation or just plain cooling down.

Actually, we could have had Anna Hazare and his Team to ensure that DFI also comes under the Lokpal, but he declined to add it since it does not come under 'corruption at high places'. ;)

Baba Ramdev is a trifle injured because of the brutal attack and once he recovers we will approach him.
why cant U approach Arundhati Roy for her valuable expertise and she is ever ready to help ....:pound::pound:

I know who your talking off! Some times some people get a god complex even for a silly Moderator job! :D
Have you ever wondered that they assume this so called 'God' complex since they are inundated (as God is) with complaints.

Indeed the Moderators job is silly, but what I find sillier is the silly people die to get this silly job to play "God" (as you say) over sillier people!

Don't take it personally since that is not the aim because many, and not only you, have this opinion. Hence, an open post for all who feel the same.

I will be frank and open, right now there is a hot debate on within the Mod circle over this.

My personal opinion is that people are abusing the 'freedom' of this Forum not having any 'Ban'. They are going berserk. Threads are being diluted to juvenile levels, communal bickering without any justification and on mere 'gut' feelings and so on.

Ask it of yourself, would you want the DFI to be merely for the juvenile and those who have between between the ears?

Do you (meaning we all) categorises ourselves to be of that variety.?

Please lenient on us Our Talibani leaders (haha ha). We expect freedom and more freedom to share our views like developed countries for example US and other western countries. Even Pakistani defense forum have more freedom than our Defense forum of India. Is this forum act as a personal property of Moderators? We have to work under their versus or Aita's? Lot of people have so many complaints on these Moderators as these people's forced others to accept their views in the name of rules and regulation.
Here you also find the lot of articles has a discussion only one sided because of strict rules and no one really enjoy it.
It already affect the popularity of DFI.

The moderators around here are WAY too leniant! This place is infected with trolls who are allowed to spew hatred, mock religions and post some fantasy warfare threads (all fanboys/armchair generals) not a singly military professional taking such threads seriously. This forum most definitely needs a quality uplift. Where it stands now, some Pakistani boards even seem better moderated. If you would like quality and intellectual discussions, than moderation most definitely needs to get stricter and trolls need to be culled.

One of the premier western defense forum shut down an entire section as it did not fit their quality and goals apart from the moderating headaches they got running that section. They slam you with some of these

Although we respect the principle of free speech, the board is not a democracy. Therefore we have devised a set of guidelines designed not to stifle debate, but to enhance it. To maintain a level of high-quality discussion, types of behaviors that are forbidden include, but are not limited to:

flamebaiting, trolling, participating in flame wars, or fanboy behavior.

posting, uploading or linking to content which is libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, abusive, harassing, threatening, sexually suggestive, hateful, profane, or contains racially, ethnically, or religiously objectionable material.

religious proselytizing; this forum is not a pulpit, preaching your religion is not permitted here. We are also not a platform for the bashing of religion.

making malicious comments about the forum or its staff, on this forum and other forums or websites.
public criticism of a moderator's actions; if you have any concerns about a moderator, please contact an administrator

when presenting an argument as factual, please take care to be able to back up your argument with actual facts or evidence that you are able to source. Arguments based on unsubstantiated rumors or conspiracy theories are frowned down upon. [QUOTE/]

This forum is far more lenient in allowing a lot of crap that can actually get the Admins in trouble as well as mods. Particularly using defamatory and derogatory words, language, tone against some politicians. If that is frowned at by the moderators it is called violation of free speech. How is not allowing name calling violating freedom of speech?

Take the religion based clause posted above. What is allowed here would certainly not be allowed there.

Check any thread on religion section and see the posts there, where have we violated freedom of speech? In fact a lot of those would be deleted and poster be banned in the other forum. But the staff here has not even deleted many of those posts which were even reported by many members. Unfortunately it has been misused by many members and we have been getting numerous mails about getting more strict in our moderation.

The mod team has a job to do and do a balancing act. It is a bloody touch task to balance what is troll and what is freedom of speech. We respect our members who understand this and post within that framework. Lately that has changed with others not used to DFI and coming from other places which indulges in only that. Many of our well respected and star members have complained to us constantly about the drop in forum discussion standard. We respect them and value their opinion and will try to device a way to not only keep the forum clean but allow as many diverse views as possible.

Remember that the forum rules listed earlier are either explicitly mentioned in the forum rules or implicitly followed by DFI.

Anyone having a problem with that can contact the admins.

We give freedom and more freedom to express your views not to troll and spread hatred. We only take action against those who troll and close threads that spread hatred or carry nonsense topics.

If people think Pakistani defense forums have more freedom, they can hang out there.

Lot of people who have complaints against the mods are trolls who are not getting their way of posting who think that they can get away by posting whatever they want - abuses, calling names, spreading hatred, propaganda etc.

And by the way, this forum is in fact run on personal funds of the admins. So yes, this is a privately owned forum.

Just bumping this thread with a note that the members have been increasingly insulting pigs by calling Pakis as Po*kis and Po*kistan when Pakis would suffice.

Ok seriously though, we don't want such words used as it does not come out professional to our wider international audience lurking around.

I want the MODS to stop trollers who troll without proper knowledge of Religious faiths and believers and should not make any provoking comments. I am a learner and I don't have much knowledge about the defence sector and please forgive my mistakes if any and help me improve my knowledge by guiding me and other members who are innocent and learners in the field of defence by giving answers to questions put forward by us.

Not only trolling in Religious faiths and believers, but all the trollers must be punished severely..........
