The Arudhra radar is a desi analogue of ELM-2084 and the Ashwini radar is a desi analogue of Thales GS100, and we have been manufacturing them locally. Do you think the armed forces will permit performance of desi product even one percent less than imports :) ?
BEL had been busy with Akash project until recently these radars would be inducted in large numbers- replacing older radars-

Foreign purchase was stop gap measure-- The indigenous product was developed but we didn't have factory to produce them in numbers- now BEL units are preparing for their production-

Either this is appallingly written or this idiot doesn't know what they're talking about because at no point is BOEING mentioned.

Aslo 15 CH-47Fs are being bought not 14.

Indian media what more can I say.............

Mistake is corrected by Hindu website

European companies come well armed for tie-ups at Defexpo - The Hindu

Rainer Farid of Eurocopter told The Hindu that the biennial exhibition provided major defence players a platform to display their expertise. "We are looking at replacements for Chetak and Cheetah [helicopters] for the Army through our Fennec choppers. We have already proved our compliance through field trials twice in both the high altitude of the Himalayas and the plains. But since 2010, we have been waiting for the move on," he said.

Similarly, he said, the company had pitched its AS 565 Panther multi-role helicopter for the 56 naval utility copters for search-and-rescue missions which the Navy and the Coast Guard require. It is also eyeing India's naval multi-role helicopter contract for 125 gunships. This project is at the request-for-inquiry stage and consultations with vendors are on. Airbus is looking at the attack and heavy helicopter space. Boeing has been selected for supply of 22 Apache attack helicopters and 15 Chinook heavy helicopters, but the deal is not yet signed.

These are LRDE programs with BEL as a production partner. They are in development and now in trials. The Arudhra prototype has been developed and LLTR Ashwin, is likely to be in trials as well, given its leveraging a lot of stuff from Rohini (design is pretty similar, AESA array apart).

I know-- I had my intern at BEL when it was busy with AKASH system- what I can tell here is that all new radars to be made at that unit would AESA- once AKASH is done with production-

That is great.

Were the Akash surveillance radars the Rohini variant or the generic 3D CAR?

It was always made in India and is made nowhere else-

If you are confusing it with Brahmos engine then Its not Ramjet engine but a liquid fuel rocket engine used in GSLV/PSLV-
yeah he is got confused with Brahmos engine, when asked about issues with Brahmos engine, they said that now issues have been resolved and they got the engine tech and in few years they will be making engine here.

We got our chance to observe Rajendra during our stay- so I cannot tell much about 3D CAR-
