Altius Scimitar 670cc diesel motorcycle displayed at DefExpo 2014

Altius Scimitar 670cc diesel engine powered motorcycle made its presence felt at the recent DefExpo 2014. Altius Scimitar receives a 4 stroke, indirect injection, single cylinder, liquid cooled, heavy duty 670cc diesel engine with output of 33 bhp at 5700 rpm and 53 Nm torque at 3300 rpm, while being mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. Altius Scimitar is capable of a top speed of 152 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in a matter of 10 seconds. Fuel efficiency stands at 46.6 kmpl and it has a range of 653 kms on a single full tank of fuel. The engine, A670 is already in use by the US Marine Corps and has set land speed records at Bonneville. It can also run on a variety of fuels besides diesel, and can function on JP8, JP5, JP4, AVTUR, JET-A1, Diesel and Biodiesel. With its turning radius of less than 2.1 meters and fitted with heavy duty, wire spoke alloy wheels covered with Dunlop D606 dual purpose on and off road tyres, the Altius Scimitar is one of the most rugged bike in the world. Weighing a 176 kgs (dry) and measuring 2296mm in length, 960mm in width and 1219mm in height, the Altius Scimitar sits on a wheel base measuring 1481mm and has ground clearance of 211mm.
