American Embassy in Moscow is no longer safe – ambassador - John Sullivan blames Russian authorities for the deterioration of his working conditions

Russia claims to have captured ‘Ukrainian saboteur’ - The claim comes after Russia said five of Kiev’s troops were killed trying to infiltrate the country

Not in wars. Wars are not fought person to person, they are fought entire country to entire country. Here total GDP counts.
In that case Vietnam or Afghanistan would not have won. You have a stronger enemy you fight asymmetric warfare. Just like US has fleet aircraft carriers you cannot defeat them 1v1 so you build Kinzhal type missile.

Did white smoke come out of the American Embassy in Moskwa?.. Then it becomes safe. Then america can screwup the airlift and leave its personnels behind enemy lines.
Have full confidence in biden to screw this up.

I am currently listening to our TV channels. Our political scientists are happy with this decision if Putin recognizes their independence. If these freaks want to "liberate" the weight of Donbass, then there will be an echeloned defense and the Russian army will meet the "Ukrainian Verdun". It's my opinion.
. Their opinion is that this is a way out of the impasse of the "Minsk agreements".

Just a not so hypothetical question. What if Russia recognizes Donetsk and Luhansk as independent republics, and then sends over "unmarked" military personnel and hardware to pull off a land grab like in Crimea? Officially it has deniability but its quasi forces are inside Ukraine. I highly highly doubt if NATO will put boots on the ground and if the sanctions will be severe considering Russia has not "officially" invaded Ukraine! Would love hear thoughts from our in-house geopolitical experts.

Few decades back when Kuwait was being invaded we saw the full force of Nato on a puny Iraq, all you see is bark from Nato now when its Russia, and we are supposed to believe US will take on China?

Europe has no appetite for war and Russia has really shown how hollow western civ power has become.

But Russia is fucked too if they bite more than they can chew, meanwhile Chinese must be putting their chess pieces silently while Nato barks over a red herring.

No matter what the odds are or differential in military firepower is, you never go to war with Russia. That is something history has taught us over and over. UN is toothless as ever. NATO will not put boots on ground. Economic sanctions will be useless too since China will help them circumvent it at the cost of Russia being its sidekick especially in the post Putin days.

Completely agree with you that the only party that benefits here is the CCP/PLA. Interesting days ahead!

Russia going for war is different than china going for war . Russia is mostly self sufficient , low populous , inward oriented economy. I wonder what ll happen to world economy if china chooses war .. A 16 tr economy having the world depended on itself for various semi manufactured or raw materials ... So many MNCs that have manufacturing base there ..

But it also means that those manufacturing houses will lose all customers. Ports go boom, no import-export for many years. And trust me, US can even today hand china a drubbing. The only thing they cant do is a land invasion of china.

US can put up manufacturing in the sates with very little problem. Will cost slightly more but no big issues.

Major explosion in Lugansk city center

A powerful explosion has rocked central Lugansk, the capital city of the namesake breakaway republic in Ukraine’s east, late on Monday. The blast has taken place outside a building housing the office of the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) on ceasefire and stabilization of the demarcation line in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR).
