I think the Yakhont/Brahmos family is a great set of missiles.

China's Yakont/Brahmos -- the CX-1 -- was sold to Algeria and possibly Morocco too.

I just learned the type 52D destroyer is actually called the Kunming class. Luyang III is just the NATO designation. If NATO is going to use a Chinese word to denote the vessel class why not us China's designation? So strange.

Wonder what the Chinese actually call their various ship classes. Wonder even more why NATO renames them. Kind of like meeting somebody, they say, "Hi my name is Jim." NATO replies, "Hello, I will call you Bert." WTF?

Newer variants of the BrahMos like the BrahMos ER can go upto Mach 4.

The BrahMos is guided by an active radar homing system or by satellite, and it has an inertial navigation system for midcourse guidance. The missile’s punch comes in the form of a 200-kilogram (440-pound) warhead.

It is propelled by a solid-fuel first booster stage and a liquid-fuel ramjet second stage, propelling the missile to speeds around Mach 4, or four times the speed of sound.

The export variant has a range of 290 kilometers (180 miles). That range is downrated to comply with international agreements, but would still be sufficient for the Philippines to provide cover for some of its holdings in the disputed South China Sea.

brahmos derives its base design from P800 but its capabilities , maneuverability and ECCM capabilities are more advanced than p800

P800 Oniks and Yakhont are the Same Missiles. In the Export Market, the P800 is designated as Yakhont. the Yakhont is limited by international treaties to have a range limit of 300km, but Onyx has no such limits and is probably longer ranged and with a heavier warhead.

NATO reporting names are actually code names for military equipment from countries like Russia, China, and historically, the Eastern Bloc. NATO does give some really good names for Weopons like :

• Tupolev TU-22M3 (NATO Reporting Name : Backfire)
• Tupolov TU-160 (NATO Reporting Name : Blackjack)
• MIG-25 (NATO Reporting Name : Foxbat)

Etc. Other than that, all other names are pretty much Shitty.

Leopards don't fly last I checked. So how is that any better? May as well use flounder. Just be happy they didn't reuse the name for the Mig-15.

Rumoured antiship ballistic missile on the Type 055 has materialized. Was expecting this weapons system to show up on one of the PLAN'test ships first, but active warship integration has already occurred.

It's not very good to underestimate Chinese Destroyers like that, the best Destroyer class present in Chinese inventory is the Type 55 class. The best and most advanced Destroyer class in India is the Visakhapatnam class.

Type 55 has a Displacement of 12-13,000 tonnes (full load). On the other hand our Visakhapatnam class has a Displacement of 7,400 t (7,300 long tons; 8,200 short tons). Also the Type-55 has superior armament to the Visakhapatnam class.

And please remember these words : "quantity has its own quality". It's a fact that Chinese Destroyers are way Superior to our Destroyers.

Yep , you're right there . Type 055 outclasses anything we have . Our DDGs have 48 cell VLS . A single type 055 has 128 Cell VLS
