WGEwald, the thing that looked like a flameout was IMHO reflection of the sun off the fuselage. to me it looked as if the elevator got stuck in the up position, pushing the nose down. so either a failure of actuators or the FBW system.

Sorry, I dont have the exact number. It probably varies from units to units. The average hours are hard to come by. The old ones probably get less while the new Flankers get more. 4 years ago, some J7 pilots got around 150 hours a year. And that was for B-units. For some elite squadrons around 180 hours a year.
Taiwan gives it pilots 180 hours a year, and may increase that. This is because China is increasing flight hours. Follow their trends, and you will get a basic idea.

There is one topic in CDF. I am unable to get the source of that article though.
thx.

A Long March rocket blasted off with a Chinese reconnaissance satellite Tuesday on an unannounced mission to collect imagery of strategic sites around the world.

The Yaogan 13 remote sensing satellite took off at 1850 GMT (1:50 p.m. EST) Tuesday from the Taiyuan launching base in Shanxi province of northern China. Launch occurred at 2:50 a.m. Wednesday Beijing time.

The two-stage Long March 2C rocket placed the payload in a sun-synchronous orbit with an average altitude of about 300 miles, according to satellite tracking data.

The launch was successful, according to the the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology.

The Yaogan series of satellites gather optical and radar reconnaissance imagery for Chinese military and intelligence agencies. Yaogan 13 may carry a synthetic aperture radar sensor to peer through clouds for all-weather, night-and-day image collection.

Chinese officials have not divulged details of the Yaogan 13 satellite.

The launch was the first flight of a Long March 2C booster since Aug. 18, when an identical rocket failed to orbit an experimental Shijian missile warning satellite.

Engineers concluded the second stage control system was to blame for the August launch failure.

Tuesday's Long March flight was the 15th successful space launch of the year for China, tying a record for Chinese launch activity set last year. It was the 72nd space launch worldwide to reach orbit in 2011.

China tells navy to prepare for combat

China tells navy to prepare for combat

Robert Saiget | December 7, 2011

Chinese President Hu Jintao has urged the country's navy to prepare for military combat and advance naval modernisation as part of efforts to safeguard world peace.

The navy should "accelerate its transformation and modernisation in a sturdy way, and make extended preparations for military combat in order to make greater contributions to safeguard national security and world peace", Hu said in a speech on Tuesday that comes amid US and regional concerns over China's naval ambitions.

According to a statement on the government's website, Hu was speaking to the nation's powerful Central Military Commission at a meeting in Beijing focused on military armament and the latest developments in the navy.

"Our work must closely encircle the main theme of national defence and military building," Hu said, according to the statement.

In a translation of Hu's comments, the official Xinhua news agency quoted the president as saying China's navy should "make extended preparations for warfare", strengthening the term "junshi douzheng" that can be also translated as "military combat" or "military struggle".

Hu's comments come after China said late last month it would conduct naval exercises in the Pacific Ocean, following a major diplomatic campaign by President Barack Obama to assert the United States as a Pacific power.

The defence ministry said the exercises did not target any particular country, but the announcement comes against a background of growing tensions over maritime disputes in the Asia-Pacific region.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao last month also warned against interference by "external forces" in regional territorial disputes including in the South China Sea, a strategic and resource-rich area where several nations have overlapping claims.

China claims all of the maritime area, as does Taiwan, while four South-East Asian countries declare ownership of parts of it, with Vietnam and the Philippines accusing Chinese forces of increasing aggression there.

On Wednesday, US undersecretary of defence Michelle Flournoy is slated to hold military-to-military talks with her Chinese counterparts in Beijing, China announced last week.

China's People's Liberation Army, the largest military in the world, is primarily a land force, but its navy is playing an increasingly important role as Beijing grows more assertive about its territorial claims.

Earlier this year, the Pentagon warned that Beijing was increasingly focused on its naval power and had invested in high-tech weaponry that would extend its reach in the Pacific and beyond.

China's first aircraft carrier began its second sea trial last week after undergoing refurbishments and testing, the government said.

The 300-metre ship, a refitted former Soviet carrier, underwent five days of trials in August that sparked international concern about China's widening naval reach.

Beijing only confirmed this year that it was revamping the old Soviet ship and has repeatedly insisted that the carrier poses no threat to its neighbours and will be used mainly for training and research purposes.

But the August sea trials were met with concern from regional powers including Japan and the United States, which called on Beijing to explain why it needs an aircraft carrier.

China, which publicly announced around 50 separate naval exercises in the seas off its coast over the past two years, usually after the event, says its military is only focused on defending the country's territory.

As per Chinese dictionary this means to threaten world peace .If they really want actual world peace then they should dismantel their armed forces and become a monk and stay in mountains.

China has been threatning it's small neighbours and claiming their air/land/sea and becoming more and more arrogant and threatning the world peace and a big nuisance in Asia.

Sigh, it seems that to have a balanced discussion here is almost impossible.
What about sending ships to Somalia? Is that also war mongering?
Everyone seems to forget that. So much for objektive and balanced discussion in the forum.

1. Try to stick to topic.
2. Look up the meaning of discussion. If one side speaks and the rest is just listening, it is not called discussion. It is called a speach. Try not to confuse those two things.
3. There is no commies any more in China. Been in coma for the last 30 years?
4. Stick to topic. Open a new thread if you feel you need to express your feelings toward the long dead commies. Nobody is stopping you.

What?!? An Indian believing CCP propaganda?
You telling me if some party in India calling themselves something, then it must be the truth and nothing but the truth?
Darn, this is rich.
Anyway, try to stick to topic at hand.

Do you mean to say that CCP has been fooling the Chinese people for decades and CCP is just another power-hungry bunch of people floating theories to stay in power?

Now back on topic, is Chinese Navy preparing for a war against the Somali pirates? I don't think so.

Fooling the Chinese people? HA, the Chinese people are well aware of what the CCP stands for. They are not fooled at all. As to the second question, of course, what you think the politicians are? saints? They are all the same no matter what country they are in and what they call them selves. The sooner you realise it, the sooner you can move on.

Preparing for war? No, silly. It Indian Navy preparing for war when they patrol there? No, it is to ensure safe passage.
Try not to read to much into sensational titles. Look for the content instead.

Your sense of equivalence is shocking!!!!
Here, Communist Party of India is Communist indeed and as the name suggests it is infested with rabid dogs that only intend to further their own agenda.

Coming to the topic,
Chinese President Hu Jintao has urged the country's navy to prepare for military combat and advance naval modernisation as part of efforts to safeguard world peace.
ain't that a bitch.... o_O :wat:

I suggest you do abit reading about what communism is before you make a fool of your self. There is no communism today, period. Just because someone call them selves something, dosnt make it true. That was my point. If you disagree, then so be it.

No idea about the second part. I believe it is good that CHina taken more responsibility by sending naval ships to Somalia. I have no problem with you not seeing it that way.
