Yakhont is the cruise missiles russia is ready to export to almost anyone ready to pay but
KLUB is the missile that russia is exclusive and Selective with when it comes to export.
Only kilo submarine buyers get to buy klubs.

re: New BrahMos Cruise Missile: Range 500kms

Brahmos is not the only super sonic missile. Yakhont (P800 Onyx) is there and in service with Vietnam and Syria now. Yakhont is the missile from which Brahmos has been derived.
There are so many.

The Chinese have the Russian Sunburn or Moskit. The Russians have the long range Granit along with Onyx and its export version Yakhont. We have Brahmos. The Americans built the target missile called Coyote. All the above are RAMJET based. Then there is the air launched KH-31 which can do anti-shipping too.

The Chinese have quite a few of their own indigenous designs like the C-101, C-803 etc which are rocket powered, which are similar to the Russian Klub.

First test-launch of BrahMos missile from Indian fighter Su-30MKI in 2014

Published July 10, 2013 | By admin
SOURCE : PNA/Itar-Tass

The BrahMos Aerospace plans to make the first test-launch of a BrahMos missile from the Indian fighter Su-30MKI in 2014, BrahMos Aerospace Executive Director from Russia Alexander Maksichev told reporters on Sunday.

"The works to create an air-to-ground BrahMos missile are under way. On the one hand, the upgrading of the fighter Su-30MKI for the missile continues, these works are on in India.

Meanwhile, the adaptation of the missile to the warplane is nearing completion. We hope that first flight tests will begin this year, still probably with a prototype of the missile. In 2014 we plan to make a first test launch of a real missile from the warplane," the Russian director of the company said.

Range of missile "BrahMos" will not increased

India will strictly observes the inter-governmental agreement between Russia and India, limiting the range supersonic missile "BrahMos" under 300 kilometers, so there is a limited range of Brahmos will not be increased.
This was assured to the Russian Journalists Executive Director by "BrahMos Aerospace" from the Indian side Sivathanu Pillai. Responding to a question, he said that India has signed with Russia intergovernmental agreement, pledging not to increase the maximum firing range missile "BrahMos", which is 300 km.

However, the head of the company said that the joint Russian-Indian company is actively working to improve the missile "BrahMos" in other ways. "The development of technology in the field of missile technology goes very quickly, including at the theater, where India, and we can not keep up," – said Pillay.

In particular, the "work is being done in the direction of improving the accuracy of fire, increasing its capacity to overcome electronic warfare and air defense systems, increasing the speed of flight. These are all questions we carefully consider both individually and comprehensively. " "We are working on systems that would have a high reliability and a long service life with the possibility of extension. All of these systems with high performance must be integrated into a single product – a missile "BrahMos", – said Pillay.

"We are working to improve the rocket, remembering that the most important thing for us – our customers, which are the Army, Air Force and the Indian Navy," – said the head of the Indian side.

India to Fast Track ALCM Developments

Published July 16, 2013 | By admin
SOURCE: IDRW NEWS NETWORK (INN)

According to Sources close to idrw.org , DRDO will fast track devlopment of air-launched cruise missile (ALCM) in all front , by early 2014, plans are in place to test fire BrahMos air-launched cruise missile (ALCM) by a Heavly Modified Sukhoi Su 30 MKI aicrafts , Two Aircrafts are already going through required modifications, planes were upgraded to some extent in order to be able to place a new missile under the hull and to integrate it with the fire control system. The fighter jets' wings were also amplified.

It is confirmed that around 20 New Sukhoi Su 30 MKI which will procured from Russia will have major structural modifications which will enable it to fire BrahMos , DRDO also revealed that they are working on a smaller and lighter variant of BrahMos which can be carried by other aircrafts without going through such modification but till now no test of such missiles have been carried out yet .

India's first Subsonic cruise missile which was test fired in March this year had partial success and DRDO is gearing up to have another test flight by year end, Nirbhay (Fearless) is nuclear-armed subsonic cruise missile with reported range of 1000 km, Air Force specific variant of Nirbhay will come minus the solid-rocket booster and will be integrated with 20 Modified Sukhoi Su 30 MKI, first launch flight of ALCM variant is likely by 2015 and DRDO will also be working on a shorter and lighter ALCM variant with lesser range to be carried by other fighter aircrafts of Indian air force.

DRDO is supposedly working on a new missile designated Long-Range Cruise Missile (LRCM), according to few details which were made public missile will have range of 600 km and will be powered by ramjet engines, DRDO slides shows design which has Air Intakes, unlike BrahMos, missile resembles French developed ASMP-A which is powered by a ramjet engine and has speeds up to Mach 3. DRDO has not confirmed or denied existence of such project in public domain but has been tight lipped about its development. It is a clear indication that missile will borrow highly from the technology developed for BrahMos since BrahMos lacks in range due to Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) restrictions , India plans to overcome range restriction by development of LRCM. Since not much detail is available in public domain some experts are suggesting that project might have been scrapped or DRDO wants to maintain some secrecy around the project.

DRDO should work on test of Nirbhay with proper test range, not just the earlier one where they tested in loop.

RAMANATHAPURAM, July 20, 2013
'BrahMos ready to be test-fired next year'
SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT

The air-launched version of Indo-Russian supersonic cruise missile BrahMos will be test-fired in the middle of next year, according to A.Sivathanu Pillai, Chief Controller of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and CEO of BrahMos Aerospace.

"We are developing a modified air-launched variant of the missile with reduced weight and contemplating to have a live firing from Sukhoi-Su 30MKI fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in the middle of 2014," Mr.Pillai said.

He was talking to reporters after inaugurating solar-powered 'House of Kalam' and 'Mission of Life', a gallery of former President A.P.J.Abdul Kalam at Rameswaram near here, on Friday.

He said the Sukhoi aircraft was also being modified to carry the missile. The missile's weight would be reduced by 500 kilograms to 2.5 tonne and a new launcher would be attached to the fighter jet.

As the pilot would be flying solo in the fighter, electronic software had been developed to give complete information about the health of the missile and the target situation, he said.

This would be linked to the mission computers and "we are in the process of testing the software," he added.

The aircraft and the missile would also go through independent tests and an integrated final test.

"We will start the tests this year-end and complete different stages of testing in a year," he said, and added that after all the tests, the missiles would be supplied to the IAF in 2015.

Nothing new to see. Since year 2011 it has been 'by next year' for test firing.

14 countries interested in BrahMos missiles

Fourteen countries have already expressed interest in buying different modifications of a BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, CEO and Managing Director of the Russian-Indian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace A. Sivathanu Pillai told reporters on Tuesday.

"As far as I understand Russian authorities have nothing against such exports and the Indian government has final say," he said, declining to disclose potential customers.

A. Sivathanu Pillai took part in BrahMos Industry Consortium Meet-2013, a conference devoted to public-private partnership in India's defence industry, of which Brahmos Aerospace is a prime example.

India's former president APJ Abdul Kalam expressed confidence that Russian and Indian governments should seize the opportunity to export BrahMos cruise missiles to other countries.

These cruise missiles with a range of 290 kilometers have already been put into service by India's Ground Forces. India's surface ships are equipped with BrahMos as well. Air-launched tests of these missiles should take place this year. Last March a submarine-launched version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test-fired.

BrahMos Aerospace secures orders worth Rs 25,000 crore

BrahMos Aerospace, the Indo-Russian joint venture that has developed the BrahMos, the world's first supersonic cruise missile, has bagged orders worth Rs 25,000 crore from the Indian defence establishment.

Having started deliveries to the Indian Army and Navy, the joint venture is slated to commence deliveries of a slightly modified version to the Indian Air Force from 2015.

The missile has attracted global attention for its flexibility in terms of multiple platforms that can be used to launch the 290-km range missile that can achieve a maximum velocity of 2.5-2.8 Mach.

"There is lot of export opportunity, with about 14 countries showing interest (in buying it). However, there are issues such as the country's security interests and what model (of the missile) can be exported," A Sivathanu Pillai, CEO and Managing Director of BrahMos Aerospace, told mediapersons on the sidelines of an industry consortium meet here today.

Russia, which holds 49.5 per cent stake in the joint venture, has indicated its willingness to allow export of the missile, while India is yet to take a decision on this.

Former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, speaking at the consortium meet, also said many countries had shown interest (in the missile). He felt India and Russia should explore the possibility of using this opportunity to export the system to select and friendly countries.

He was optimistic that the production order for BrahMos would rise from the current $7 billion to $10 billion by 2015.

As of now, only 2 squadrons of Su30mki will be integrated with brahmos.

BATL is also developing a lighter missile known as Brahmos III which will be integrated with our medium weight class fighters as well such as Rafale and mig29.

Lets see whether we can export it to a single nation. Russia itself is eating out the market by offering other PJ-10 Yakhont variants to potential Brahmos customer.

As far as I read it, there are going to be legal/procedural tangles when selling it.

Further, this missile is somewhat different from the standard longer-range, subsonic, bigger warhead (than Brahmos' 350 kg.) & more stealthy AShCM other nations operate.

The whole principle of this missile is unique in the sense that it relies more on evasion (i.e. after-detection, which isn't difficult given the signature), quick reaction + quicker impact time, & impact with 9 times more kinetic energy, to do the job rather than relying overly on traits that conventional missiles adhere to like warhead tonnage, less detectability, better maneuverability & safer stand-off ranges.

Not many navies are in sync or trained to incorporate such tactics. This inertia or unwillingness or lack of interest could be overcome but would take time & marketing effort.
