Thanks for info, its very old one, since there's a dedicated thread on it, I think discussion regarding Brahmos should continue there.

Then that should be a cause for worry. Cruise missiles should be extremely adoptable to be used on a variety of launching platforms. This is a major shortcoming of Bhramos. No sub launching... Maybe a special torpedo tube jacket should be developed for Bhramos that will be discarded after exit from the water.
You are comparing subsonic missiles with supersonic missile. BrahMos is one of it's kind, it is capable of being launched from the sub, but it has certain requirements, the sub which fulfills it, will carry that. I said that Arihant type of subs will carry strategic missiles primarily. If mission demands to carry BrahMos they can very well carry it (of course there is no launch done as of now)

Brahmos to Fund IISC-Moscow Aviation Institute Hypersonic Missile Project
Brahmos Aerospace has launched a project to fund the development of a hypersonic missile, capable of flying at Mach 7, as a partnership between the Indian Institute of Science (IISC) and the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI).

An agreement to this effect was signed at the MAKS 2011 show here yesterday between Brahmos, MAI, the Russian Ministry of Science and Technology and the Russian partner in Brahmos, NPOM Machinista.

BrahMos sets the 'gold standard' for Russian-Indian defence projects | Russia & India Report

BrahMos sets the 'gold standard' for Russian-Indian defence projects
.

There has been a lot of talk recently about
growing competition on India's arms market,
which is crucial for Russia. In Soviet times, Russia
supplied some 75-80 per cent of the weapons for
India's Army, Air Force and Navy but now, as
India matures financially, it is opting increasingly
for more expensive western armaments. Back in
the 1980s, German and French supplies brought
India submarines and Mirage 2000 fighters and,
in 1990, Israel broke in, making India one of its
biggest sales markets, along with the US. Finally,
the last ten years have seen a significant boost to
Indian-US military and technical ties, with US's
sales of military transport and antisubmarine
aircraft nearing $10 billion.
In this situation, the best way for Russia to retain
its position in India is to revise the trade paradigm
of military and technical cooperation, shifting the
focus to joint projects based on risk-sharing
partnership, whereby the parties invest jointly in
creation, production and promotion of products.
Today, Russia and India have two joint defence
projects, including the BrahMos programme for
designing, producing and marketing supersonic
stealth cruise missiles, and a project for building
the MTA multirole medium transport aircraft.
During Russian President Medvedev's visit to
India in December 2010, a contract was also
signed to design India's version of the Fifth
Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA), which
potentially means yet another joint undertaking.
While the МТА programme has not yet shown
any impressive progress, the BrahMos project
can be seen as the 'gold standard' for joint
military manufacturing programmes, effectively
combining such factors as commercial profit for
Russian and Indian partners, a tangible
improvement in the combat ability of the Indian
Army, Navy and Air Force, and development of
new technologies, which is particularly important
for India. Perhaps the project's most valuable
result is the accumulated experience of resolving
difficult legislative, organisational and financial
problems. In the future, this experience will be
used for new joint programmes, including for the
FGFA project.
What makes this programme so unique is that
India is, in fact, buying one of its first
standardised weapons systems that can be
deployed by all three armed services - the Army,
the Navy and the Air Force.

BATL to make airframes for BRAHMOS - Brahmand.com
.
.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM
(BNS):--
BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Ltd (BATL) will soon be awarded the task of manufacturing airframes for BRAHMOS supersonic cruise missile systems.
A decision in this regard will be finalised within a month, Dr A.Sivathanu Pillai, CEO & MD, BrahMos Aerospace said. "This is an opportunity came knocking for BATL. However, propulsion systems will continue to be made by other agencies," Dr. Pillai was quoted as saying in a news report.
With this award, BATL will become the second
manufacturing hub to make airframes for the
missile system.
Presently, airframes made of light alloy for the
missile are being manufactured by Godrej. The
company set up a separate plant for the purpose,
but it was not sufficient, Pillai was quoted as
saying by The New Indian Express.

The Hindu : News / National : BrahMos airborne launcher prototype undergoing tests

The BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Limited (BATL) has been contracted to build five prototype airborne launchers of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile with its first flight test on a Su-30 MKI aircraft slated to take place by the end of 2012.
Fabricated using high strength aluminium, the 6-metre-long airborne launcher — the largest in the world — weighs 350 kg.

Concurrently, test-firing of BrahMos from a submerged pontoon off Visakhapatnam is also on the cards.

"This should happen during the current season in the window between November this year and March next,

India to sell BrahMos missile to Vietnam

India to sell BrahMos missile to Vietnam

Sep 20, 2011

The BrahMos Aerospace —the Indo-Russian joint venture that has developed the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile — is keen to sell the missile to Vietnam with which India is developing a strong strategic relationship, sources have confirmed
.
However, the Indian government's approval will have to be taken for any such acquisition.

Sources also confirmed that Vietnam is already on a list of about 15 "friendly countries" — that was decided by a joint Indo-Russian supervisory council — to whom the BrahMos missile can be sold.

"Informal talks are on but no concrete proposal has been made as yet," a source who did not want to be identified, told this newspaper. "Any acquisition of the BrahMos missile will be of immense value to Vietnam and will boost its defence preparedness," sources said.

So far, the BrahMos missile has not been sold to any third country although a few have already evinced interest in acquiring it.
In a move that signalled the importance of strategic ties between India and Vietnam in the wake of increased Chinese military assertion in Asia, defence secretary Shashi Kant Sharma had also recently begun an official visit to Vietnam. India is set to offer naval facilities for training and capacitybuilding to Vietnam.
