Not worthy. For Tejas, We will buy GE engine most likely. Also, may be for Jaguar.
AESA already included in Rafale. May be for our other fighter jets including Mirage ?? :scared1:

I don't think MoD would be as greedy as we are.

RAF + nEUROn + Mistral + AESA will be dream come true !!

Let see, what outcomes after all !! :)
Your dreams are coming true...

BrahMos test flight for Sukhoi-30 by year end

BrahMos test flight for Sukhoi-30 by year end

TRICHY: The BrahMos missile for the Indian Air Force which can be launched from a Sukhoi-30 is being developed and a test flight will probably be held by the end of this year, said Dr A Sivathanu Pillai, chief controller, R&D, DRDO and chief executive officer and managing director of BrahMos Aerospace. The BrahMos missile used an air breathing scramjet propulsion technology and hence was more fuel efficient than a traditional rocket-powered missile, he said.

Pillai was in Trichy on Saturday to deliver a lecture in the ongoing Pragyan 2012 of the National Institute of Technology, Trichy (NITT). According to him, the paradigm of India's progress must be in the course of a leap frog in technology. "When the world had a cruise missile, India went forward to make a supersonic cruise missile," he said.

He also touched upon the predictions for the future in technology in all spheres of life. "The future belongs to self-driven cars (which have been tested by DRDO in an ongoing project), flying cars, stem cell surgery, morphing airframes, solar power satellite and a space lift," he explained.

On the future of energy, he stressed that nuclear and solar power are the sources. Pillai also mentioned about the latest research into nano-solar cells that claim efficiency of 50% at low costs.

Turing his attention on BrahMos, Pillai stressed on the versatility and elite characteristics of the world's only supersonic cruise missile. Capable of being launched from land or sea to any target on land or sea, with a speed of Mach 2.8 (2.8 times faster than the speed of sound, which is three times faster than the USA's contemporary Tomahawk cruise missile). The BrahMos is the brainchild of Pillai's team comprising the DRDO, India and NPO Mashinostroyenia (NPOM) of Russia.

BrahMos plans to conduct research on hypersonic missiles with NIT-Tiruchi

TIRUCHI (PTI): BrahMos Aerospace plans to take up collaborative research work with educational institutions, including the National Institute of Technology here, for development of hypersonic version of BRAHMOS missiles.

BrahMos was roping in various academic and industrial institutions across the country for research on suitable robotics, sensitive materials and others required for the hypersonic missiles, its CEO and MD Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai said.

BrahMos Aerospace is an Indo-Russian joint venture producing BRAHMOS supersonic cruise missiles.

After the development of land, sea and air versions of supersonic missiles, BrahMos was in the process of venturing into development, design and production of hypersonic missiles, which can travel at seven to eight times the speed of sound (7-8 Mach), he said.

It was on the look out for new materials that could withstand high speed and heavy vibration in the development of hypersonic missiles.

NIT-Tiruchi, which has courses in disciplines like robotics, material management, metallurgy, was among the institutions being roped in for the collaboration, Dr. A.S. Pillai, who made a presentation at Pragyan, the annual Techno-Management festival of the institute, told PTI.

Institute Director Dr. Srinivasan Sundararajan said discussions with BrahMos had already been initiated and very shortly a collaborative pact would be finalised.

Army Inducts 2nd Cruise Missile Unit On Pak Border

The Indian Army on Sunday inducted it's second BrahMos supersonic cruise missile regiment in the western sector. This has provided more teeth to the Army's swift strike capability along the border with Pakistan.

The Indian Army also successfully conducted a test of the 290-km range missile to validate the unit's operationalisation.

"In conformity and pursuit of operational and strategic surface to surface missile capability development, the second BrahMos unit of Indian Army has been operationalised somewhere in western sector," an army spokesperson said.

"The Indian Army's Missile unit successfully launched the BrahMos missile and destroyed the preselected target in the field firing ranges in Rajasthan on Sunday," he added.

BrahMos has the capability of attacking surface targets by flying as low as 10 metres above the ground. It can reach a speed of Mach 2.8 or close to three times the speed of sound.

The BrahMos has been developed as a joint venture between the Defence Research and Development Organisation ( DRDO) of India and the Federal State Unitary Enterprise NPO Mashinostroyenia (NPOM) of Russia under BrahMos Aerospace.

Brahmos supersonic cruise missile test fired successfully

Mar 28, 2012

BALASORE (Odisha): India today successfully test fired Brahmos supersonic cruise missile as part of a user trial by the Army from the test range at Chandipur off Odisha coast.

"The missile was test fired from a ground mobile launcher from the launch complex-3 at about 1122 hours and the trial was successful," said a defence official.

The missile, which has a flight range of up to 290 km, is capable of carrying a conventional warhead of 200 to 300 kg.

The cruise missile, a surface-to-surface Army version, was test fired as part of user trial by the Army, he said.

The two-stage missile, the first one being solid and the second one ramjet liquid propellant, has already been inducted into the Army and Navy, he said.

While induction of the first version of Brahmos missile system in the Indian Navy commenced from 2005 with INS Rajput, it is now fully operational with two regiments of the Army.

The air launch version and the submarine launch version of the missile system are in progress, said the official.

The Army has so far placed orders for the Brahmos missile to be deployed by three regiments of the Army and two of them have already been inducted operationally.

The Defence Ministry has also given a go-ahead to the Army to induct a third regiment equipped with the missile system to be deployed in Arunachal Pradesh along the China border.

'Brahmos Aerospace', an Indo-Russian joint venture company headed by a distinguished Indian defence scientist, is also working to develop the air as well as the submarine launch version of the misile system and work on the project is in progress.

I hear that this was a test of block III version of the missile in steep dive mode. It is not a user trial.

BrahMos develops anti-aircraft carrier variant of the missile

BrahMos develops anti-aircraft variant of the missile
Press Trust Of India
New Delhi, March 31, 2012

Indo-Russian joint venture BrahMos has developed an anti-aircraft carrier variant of the 290-km supersonic cruise missile.
"We have achieved the capability to attack aircraft carriers using the supersonic vertical diving variant of the missile and after demonstrating the capability
recently with high precision, we will now offer this to the Indian Navy," BrahMos chief A Sivathanu Pillai said in New Delhi on Saturday.

He was asked to comment on the recent two successful test firings of the missile.

Pillai said the test firing for the steep dive variant was done for the Army and after its success, the path is clear for the induction of the fourth regiment of the missile for mountain warfare.

The army has plans of deploying this missile regiment in the Northeast along the borders with China and the proposal was accorded sanction in a Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) meeting last year.

The development comes in the backdrop of China's first aircraft carrier undergoing scientific testing and training exercises ahead of its commissioning in August.

The BrahMos chief said the tests were also to evaluate certain new systems of the missile, which are produced by the Indian industries so that bulk production clearance can be given for integration.

"This will facilitate faster induction in the Indian armed forces," he said.

Pillai said with the Indian forces planning to induct a number of new aircraft such as the 126 multirole combat fighter jets and the MiG 29K naval fighters, BrahMos was considering developing a smaller version of the BrahMos missile for them.

At present, the company is developing an air-launched version of the Su-30MKI, which falls in the heavy weight category among fighter jets.
