Oh man you took it to heart. My comment was based on performance of units in Iraq and Donbass. I guess crew preparedness has also to be factored 🤣
I reacted to “tin cans.” Of course, any technique has “childhood illnesses,” but they are fixed, so the BTR-4E continues to be regularly delivered (4-5 pcs./ month). APC "Otaman" is only a new step in development. A new IFV is still expected (but it is too early to talk about this).

Thailand orders more US Stryker 8x8 armored vehicles
According to information published by the Thai Armed Force Blog on September 21, 2020, the Thai army will procure more Stryker ICV ( Infantry Combat Vehicle) 8x8 armored vehicles in the defense budget plan 2021. In September 2019, the Thai army has taken delivery of the first batch of Stryker 8x8 armored vehicles.

In July 2019, the U.S. State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to Thailand of 60 Stryker infantry carrier vehicles with equipment and support for an estimated cost of $175 million.

The Government of Thailand has requested to buy sixty (60) Stryker Infantry Carrier Vehicles (ICV); and sixty (60) M2 Flex .50 cal machine guns. Also included are spare parts, Basic Issue Items (BII), Components of End Items (COEI), Additional Authorized List (AAL) (specific items for operations and maintenance), Special Tools and Test Equipment (STTE), technical manuals, OCONUS Deprocessing Service, M6 smoke grenade launchers (4 per vehicle) and associated spares, AN/VAS-5 Driver's Vision Enhancer (DVE), AN/VIC-3 vehicle intercommunications system, contractor provided training and Field Service Representatives (FSR), and other related elements of logistics and program support.

In Fiscal Year 2020, Thailand has ordered another batch of 50 Stryker vehicles. For the Fiscal Year 2021, Thailand will procure 10 more Stryker vehicles and will have a total of 130 vehicles to equip three infantry battalions.

The Stryker is a family of 8x8 armored fighting vehicles derived from the wheeled armored vehicle Canadian LAV III, which in turn was based on the Swiss Mowag Piranha III 8x8, and produced by General Dynamics Land Systems, in use by the United States Army and recently by Iraq.

The M1126 variant is the ICV (Infantry Carrier Vehicle) in the Stryker family. The Infantry Carrier Vehicle provides protected transport and, during dismounted assault, supporting fire for the infantry squad. The Stryker is a full-time four-wheel drive, selectively eight-wheel drive, armored vehicle weighing approximately 19,000 kg which carries an infantry squad of 9 soldiers with their equipment.

The M1126 ICV is fitted with a Protector remote weapon station with a universal soft mount cradle, which can mount either a .50 caliber M2 Browning machine gun, a 40mm MK19 grenade launcher or a 7.62×51mm NATO M240 machine gun. It is also armed with four M6 smoke grenade launchers.

Pakistan has its own armored vehicles. APC Talha is one of them
PANAGYURISHTE, (BM) – Since its appearance on the world map, the “country of the clean” [and this is how the name of this state is translated] has been waging wars. The main enemy, naturally, is India. But besides her, there are enough opponents: there is restlessness in the tribal zone on the border with Afghanistan, there are enough in Pakistan and various religious extremists.

For wars, of course, you need weapons. If earlier the needs of Pakistan were provided by the United States and China, now it is moving to the production of its own equipment.

Since 2010, the Pakistani army has been in service with the Talha tracked armored personnel carrier. This vehicle is based on the good old American M113 armored personnel carrier. The reason for the creation of “Talha” was the US sanctions [due to Pakistan’s work on nuclear weapons], which made it impossible to license the production of the classic M113.

Visually, both cars are very similar. Pakistani is distinguished by the narrowed shape of the entire vehicle and other outlines of the side armor plates externally and by a different arrangement of the driver’s seat and propulsion system – inside.

An American diesel with a capacity of 275 hp can be used as an engine. or Ukrainian UTD-20 (330 hp). The basic version is armed with a 12.7 mm large-caliber machine gun DShK. In addition to it, there are such modifications as an anti-tank vehicle armed with a Baktar Shikan ATGM, an anti-aircraft vehicle equipped with a Swedish RBS-70 anti-aircraft complex, an Al Qaswa supply vehicle, a Raad self-propelled mortar, a Sakb command vehicle and others.

Unlike the M113, which has a running gear of 5 rollers per side, some armored vehicles of the Talha family have 6 rollers. For example, the Al Qaswa logistics vehicle, which is associated with the need to deliver goods over difficult terrain.

Compared to the M113, the Talha is slightly heavier [12.5 tons versus 12.32] and slower [64 km / h for an American car versus 40 for a Pakistani one]. The crew is the same for both machines – 13 [11 paratroopers, driver, commander]. , On the basis of the Talha armored personnel carrier, the Al-Hamza infantry fighting vehicle is produced, armed with a 30 mm cannon in the turret. It is structurally very similar to the American export BMP AIFV, which is also a relative of the M113.

A promising example of weapons is the Pakistani BMP “Viper”. The chassis of the already mentioned Talha BTR is used as a base for it. The armor has been greatly enhanced. The armament is represented by a Slovak-made module. It includes a 30mm automatic cannon, a 12.7mm machine gun and Konkurs anti-tank missiles [4 guides]. “Viper” will be able to transport 12 infantrymen and reach a speed of 62 km / h.

The Pakistani police and its other internal security services are armed with the Mohafiz armored car, developed on the basis of the Land Rover Defender. Crew – 8 people (including the driver and the operator of the machine gun), the bulletproof armor protects against 7.62 mm bullets. Such machines are purchased by Iraq for its security forces.

The widespread worldwide fashion for MRAPs – machines that are protected from mines and capable of successfully operating against ambushes – did not escape Pakistan either. Since 2009, the development of a mine-resistant armored personnel carrier “Burraq” on the chassis of the Japanese Isuzu truck has been underway there.

Due to the similarity of its front end to a cat’s face, the photos of the Burraq armored vehicle caused a certain resonance on the Internet. It was supposed to equip the car with a remotely controlled machine-gun installation and an electronic system that detonates radio-controlled explosive devices. The status of this project is currently unclear.

From the above, the following conclusions can be drawn. The Pakistanis were able to develop a family of machines conceptually similar to the American ones based on the M113 and having similar performance characteristics. Thus, the Raad mortar is analogous to the M106, the Sakb is the M577, respectively, and the Baktar Shikan vehicle is the M901 armed with the TOW ATGM. We do not see a direct analogue of the Talha-based air defense missile system in the US Army, but similar machines [ADATS] are in service in Canada.

The Al Qaswa supply vehicle compares favorably with the American M548 in the presence of an armored hull. Copying the American experience allowed us to gain experience and create our own production base for creating our own weapons. Maybe “Talha” and have some reduced performance compared to the M113, but this does not prevent them from being exported.

The prospective BMP “Viper” is close in armament to the Ukrainian BTR-3/4, and is comparable to the Russian BMPT “Terminator” [though differing in less armor]. The armored vehicle “Mohafiz” is quite at the level of world standards. The military industry of Pakistan uses components and assemblies developed in other countries [Ukraine, Slovakia, Russia, China]. But on the whole, it is developing successfully [taking into account the capabilities of Pakistan] and produces interesting products.

Navistar To Supply Defense Trucks To Pakistan
Navistar has bagged a US $35 million contract from US department of defense to supply 40 MaxxPro Dash DXM mine-resistant, armoured trucks to the Pakistan Army.

The US Department of Defense issued a USD $35 million contract for supplying 40 MaxxPro Dash DXM mine-resistant, armoured trucks to Pakistan.

The US-based truck major had a joint venture with India's tractor and utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M).

Though Indian companies are ramping up their presence across several armies around the world they are barred from supplying defence products to Pakistan, Moneycontrol reported today.

India has even banned exports of passenger vehicles to the neighbouring country, too. Mahindra and Navistar had a long running partnership for two joint ventures in India that made trucks, buses and high capacity diesel engines.

The JV developed trucks from scratch for the Indian market under the brand Mahindra Navistar. In 2012, however, the US company expressed its willingness to exit the joint ventures as it wanted to focus on the US market.

In the following year M&M purchased Navistar’s stakes in the two JVs for an undisclosed sum. Break-up of the Mahindra-Navistar JV could be partly attributed to the fact that Navistar wanted to pursue international military contracts including those emerging from Pakistan awarded by the US.

Such deals could have progressively created hurdles for M&M’s very own defence ambitions. Pakistan has been using mine-resistant ambush protected (MRAP) vehicles as part of its claimed counter insurgency operations in the federally administered tribal areas (FATA).

Pakistan had sought surplus MRAPs from US stocks in Afghanistan under the Excess Defence Articles (EDA) programme. However, they failed to materialize.

Joint venture to supply Ukrainian APCs to Myanmar army
The Ukrainian side has already begun delivery of equipment including special machines to build the factory. Ukraine’s delivery to Myanmar includes a production line to assemble the BTR-4U wheeled 8×8 armoured personnel carrier, 2S1U self-propelled howitzer based on the MT-LBu multi-purpose chassis, according to people familiar with the talks. The new plant is due to start production in the second half of 2020, according to the report.

The BTR-4E (similar to BTR-4U) is the export version of the BTR-4, an 8x8 armoured vehicle personnel carrier (APC) designed by the Ukrainian Company Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau. This the latest generation of wheeled armoured personnel carrier (APC) manufactured by the Ukrainian defense industry. This is a new development of 8x8 armoured vehicle which is not based to Russian technology of wheeled combat vehicle as the BTR-80 family. The BTR-4E APC is designed to be used as personnel carrier vehicle for infantry units or as a wheeled infantry fighting vehicle with weapon station to provide fire support. It can be operated under various climatic conditions from a temperature range of -40° to +55°C. In July 2012, Ukrainian Defense Ministry has announced the delivery of first BTR-4E APC for its armed forces. The BTR-4E is already in mass production and is in service with Ukraine, and Iraq.

The MT-LB is a multipurpose tracked armored vehicle which was designed in Ukraine in the early 1960s. In the Russian army, more than 80 variants are in service. In Ukraine and Russia, many defense companies have developed several new modernized or upgraded variants. The MT-LB can also tow a trailer or weapon up to 6,500 kg or carry equipment up to 2,000 kg. A total of 11 soldiers can be carried inside the vehicle.

Textron to supply strike force vehicles for Afghanistan Army
Textron Marine & Land Systems (TM&LS) announced it received a second option award from the US Army Contracting Command, Warren, Michigan, for 65 additional Mobile Strike Force Vehicles (MSFV) for the Afghanistan National Army (ANA). These vehicles are added to the current Undefinitised Contract Action and have a not-to-exceed value of $71.4 million.

Three variants are being produced: MSFV with enclosed turret; MSFV with objective gunner protection kit; and MSFV ambulance. Work is being performed at Textron Marine & Land Systems’ facilities in the New Orleans area, with deliveries now scheduled through May 2013.

TM&LS, in May 2011, received an award for full-rate production of 240 MSFVs along with associated support equipment, spare parts, field service representatives, training and training aids. The first option for 64 MSFVs was announced two months ago.

Mobile Strike Force Vehicles began arriving into Afghanistan in February. Afghan operator new equipment training commenced earlier this month, and the first ANA battalion (called a Kandak) will complete its vehicle training in June. “It’s gratifying to learn about the Afghan soldiers’ enthusiasm as they move through their operator training programme,” said Tom Walmsley, TM&LS Senior Vice President and General Manager.

All MFSUS are derived from the combat-proven M1117 Armored Security Vehicle (ASV), and are configured with Enhanced Survivability (ES) capability, which improves blast protection to mineresistant, ambush-protected (MRAP) levels. The ES-equipped vehicles continue to possess the ASV’s original, all-important V-shaped hull design, in addition to innovative protection design features that enable them to meet MRAP blast protection standards.

Going by these posts it seems like we are missing out on a whole lot of export market in our own backyard.

Myanmmar should be buying weapons from us but alas we don't have a industry.

It is usually the Political will, Indigenous industry and government establishment that works to capture international market.

Our babus can't be bothered enough to scout import potential. The Private sector is alone on this and the absence of government support or by own admission itself they don't consider expanding.
The leseer said about PSU the better.

It's a very pathetic situation.
We aren't avle to capture market because the nations assets can't come together.

it is a good thing that in 2020, we are able to think this way. If the same news was in 2014/2015, commentary will not even include Indian industry as a potential vendor and the news item won’t be of interest since India has no role here.

This is progress.

Afghanistan’s Army to Receive More Armored Vehicles to Battle Taliban
The ANA is to receive 55 additional Commando Select Armored Security Vehicles by February 2016.

The United States is rushing additional military hardware to Afghanistan to support the embattled Afghan National Army. According to IHS Jane’s Defense Weekly, the U.S.-based defense contractor Textron Marine & Land Systems has been awarded a $56.2 million contract for the delivery of 55 additional Commando Select Armored Security Vehicles by February 2016.

“Vehicle deliveries are to begin in October and finish by February 2016, and the platforms include 36 with Objective Gunner Protection Kits, 15 with enclosed 40 mm/.50-calibre turrets, and four ambulance variants,” the article notes.

The Afghan National Army (ANA) already operates 623 Commando Select wheeled armored cars, although it is unclear how many of them are functional. More heavily armored and more heavily armed than the ANA’s Humvees, the Commando Select is considered to be the backbone of the Afghan government’s ground forces in Afghanistan.

The ANA currently operates three different variants of the Commando Select including ambulance, enclosed turret, and so-called Objective Gunner’s Protection Kits–gun shields manned by a gunner up top–versions. Each version has a crew of three and can carry up to seven passengers. In addition, the ANA also uses the vehicle as an armored personal carrier, alternatively armed with a machine gun or grenade launcher, that can carry up to eight soldiers.

The Commando Select is a derivative of the USA M1117 Armored Security Vehicle, however, unlike the M1117, the Commando Select purportedly has the same mine blast protection than a heftier Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Category 1 vehicle.

In addition to heavier armor, reasons for the Commando Select’s improved mine blast protection are its V-shaped hull, ceramic plating, and an inner spall liner. Furthermore, the armor of the vehicle is angled and therefore can deflect rocket-propelled grenade projectiles.

The Commando Select is armed with a .50 caliber M2 Browning machine gun and the Mk 19 40mm auto-grenade launcher.

Back in September, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, John F. Sopko, expressed his concern that the United States may be oversupplying the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces with military hardware:

I am concerned that we may be buying equipment and vehicles in quantities that exceed the needs of the ANDSF. I am also concerned that such large acquisitions could prompt the premature disposal of equipment and vehicles that have already been issued to the ANDSF and that have significant service life remaining.
His list of concerns included medium-tactical vehicles, M-16 rifles, Humvees, and ammunition. The Pentagon has so far not provided an explanation why the ANA is in need of additional armored cars.

Greek army to receive 350 Bradley M2A2 IFVs and M1117 4x4 armored from US
According to enikos.gr, the plan elaborated by the General Staff of the Greek Army for the gradual replacement of the old M113 APCs indicates a will to run the procedures very quickly so that it can bring to Greece not only 1,200 M1117 Guardians, also designated Armored Security Vehicles (based on the Cadillac Gage V-100 and V-150 Commandos), but also 350 M2A2 Bradleys at the same time.

The Greek team that will go to the United States for the selection of vehicles from the surplus stock of the U.S. Army and the National Guards has already been selected. The Bradley M2A2s will bring much-desired support to the fleet of Leopard 2HEL (Hellenic, Greek) MBTs. This variant was developed on the basis of experience gained by the U.S. Army from Operation Desert Storm (ODS) in the Gulf, in 1993.

According to information from enikos.gr, the finalization of the departure date of the Greek team to the United States is considered a matter of weeks. The reason for not already set a firm date is linked to reasons of protection against the covid-19.

Let us remind that, un December 2019, the U.S. Government planned to donate almost 60 Bradley M2A2 Infantry Fighting Vehicles in ODS (Operation Desert Storm) configuration to Croatia, according to a statement issued by Croatian Defense Minister Damir Krsticevic, Kamenjar.com reports. The “Greek” Bradleys will obviously come from the same stock. In 2017 and 2018, Lebanon also received M2A2 Bradleys from the same stock.

The M2A2 Bradley AIFV (Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle) was introduced in the U.S. Army in 1988, it's an improved version of the standard vehicle Bradley M2A1. The M2A2 Bradley has exactly the same armament as the previous version Bradley M2A1. The M2A2 Bradley is armed with an ATK Gun Systems Company M242 25 mm Bushmaster Chain Gun with a 7.62 mm M240C machine gun mounted coaxially to the right of the main armament.

The layout of the M2A2 Bradley is similar to the standard version of Bradley M2A1. The Bradley M2A2 is fitted with new additional armour. Armor plates have been added to the front and the side of the hull.

The ASV M1117 is designed and manufactured by the American Company Textron Marine & Land Systems. The ASV M1117 Guardian provides greater ballistic protection than any other wheeled vehicle of its size in the world. The external modular expandable armor system of ceramic composite material provides ballistic protection for the crew, ammunition, fuel tanks, and storage areas against 12.7mm armor-piercing ammunition. It has a crew of four.

The ASV's M1117 Guardian firepower consists of a one-person, non-stabilized, turreted primary weapons station with a mounted 40mm automatic grenade launcher (MK19 MOD 3) and .50-caliber machine gun (M2/M48). The turret traverses 360° and allows for elevation of 45°.

Lebanese Army Receives Final Batch of Eight M2A2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles
Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) has received the fourth and final batch of eight M2A2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles (IFV) on Aug. 12, 2018, as a part of the U.S. military aid program to Lebanon.

The fourth batch of armoured vehicles are part of a total order of 32 Bradleys, valued at more than $100 million, for the Lebanese Army. Lebanon received the first batch of eight Bradley IFVs on August 14, 2017.

Lebanese Bradley vehicles are armed with ATK M242 25 mm Bushmaster Chain Gun, 7.62 mm M240C coaxial machine gun and two launchers for the TOW Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM).

The new delivery is a significant boost for the country’s armed forces who are engaged in a complex and largely forgotten front in the fight against ISIS and reflects otherwise expanding American military involvement in the country.

Over the last few years, the United States has intensified its engagement and support to the Lebanese Army and has provided the following defense articles: 40 M198 howitzers, 50 armored Humvees, an Armed Cessna aircraft with hellfire missiles, 55 mortar systems, 50 Mark-19 automatic grenade launchers, 1100 machine guns including 800 .50 caliber machine guns, 4,000 M4 rifles, over half a million rounds of ammunition, 320 night vision devices and thermal sights and 360 secure communication radios.

M2 Bradley

M2 Bradley, or Bradley IFV, is an American infantry fighting vehicle that is a member of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle family. It is manufactured by BAE Systems Land & Armaments, which was formerly United Defense.

The Bradley is designed for reconnaissance and to transport a squad of infantry, providing them protection from small arms fire, while also providing firepower to both suppress and eliminate most threats to friendly infantry.

It is designed to be highly manoeuvrable and to be fast enough to keep up with heavy armour during an advance. The M2 holds a crew of three: a commander, a gunner and a driver, as well as six fully equipped soldiers.

The M2’s primary armament is M242 25 mm autocannon, which fires up to 200 rounds per minute and is accurate up to 2,500 m depending on the ammunition used. The Bradley also carries a coaxial M240C 7.62 mm medium machine gun, located to the right of the 25 mm main gun. It is also armed with two BGM-71 TOW wire-guided missiles.

They are also equipped with two four-barreled smoke grenade launchers on the front of the turret for creating defensive smoke screens, and can also be loaded with chaff and flares.
