Apart from weight and so called bridges issue is there any other reason to sideline Arjun .....
How many more tests do they wanna conduct....????
Is all the queries issues(cooked) during trials even justified.....
you can go for russian tin cans and wait years to get them modifief rectificied but you will not go for Arjun as its a Indian product....

Mr. Jaitley as a new Defence Minister, would you please end this debate.

Army is behaving like spoilt sport child. It does not know the virtues of what they have in their hand but wish to have more. This mk2 and mk1 should form the strike corp of the Indian army. No Pakistani tank including their T -85 or locally made in Pakistan can touch Arjun Tank. So what is Army doing to have one trials after another.

I am very sure that if Indian Army is given Abraham tank with its name plate and country of origin removed, they will find faults with it.

Some faults belong in GSQR. The way it is written in an open season for fault finding and easy access to bribe money.

Mr. Defence Minister, please end this debate, now.
Instead we can remove Arjun Tag and Made In India from it and then offer to our Army... Then they might be happy....

bridge and weight is not issue and that is proved here by many members
.
why we are not exporting arjun have many background like that of political one, antony. He and UPA was really lazy and export is not their propaganda . What they do is fake secularism
.
the other is the negative approach of indian army , hardly any army on world chooses foreign tanks rather than indigenous . The result is clear , all nation will think there is something faulty in the tank hence army not buying it
.
third one is , we don't have any infrastructure and policy for mass production and it wasn't needed cause just 124 arjun was ordered . @Pulkit

Yes again the point of concern is the attitude of our defense forces towards our own goods....
There is never a public reasoning of selecting or rejecting a product...
Tehy are experts but they must a answerable....

or what they call as foreign mainly Russian lobbies have taken over it????

We do have ability and capacity to mass produce its jsut the will and commitment we are missing...

Hopefully under new govt all the mistakes of UPA are corrected...

But way more valuable time is being lost...

DRDO Seeks Additional Diehl Track System 570 Z0 for Arjun MBT Mk-2 As Trials Progress

DRDO has invited bids for Diehl Track System 570 Z0 for fitment on 5 Arjun MBT Mk-2 tanks.
Diehl, a German defense equipment manufacturer, produces chains and drive components for a wide range of military vehicles worldwide including the 70-ton Leopard 2 MBT and Arjun Mk-1 MBT.
Diehl tracks fitted on Arjun Mk-1 are now being manufactured by L&T. (The tracks on a tank have limited life and need to be periodically replaced.)
Arjun Mk-2 is reportedly undergoing 5 phase user acceptance trials, of which three phases have already been completed.
Improvements suggested in each phase are being implemented before the start of the subsequent phase.
The concluding fourth and fifth phases of user trials will begin in May 2014.
In the fourth phase the tank would be tested for obstacle crossing and medium fording (water) capabilities.
There are 89 improvements being undertaken on the Mk II tank, out of which 74 are related to equipment fitted on the tank and the remaining 15 are other improvements such as ammunition development.
So far the prototype tank has covered over 5,000 km as part of the DRDO and user trials.
The Indian Army has already placed orders on Heavy Vehicles Factory (HVF), Avadi, Chennai for 124 Arjun Mark-II tanks.
The additional 124 MBTs would help the Army to raise two more regiments of the indigenous tanks.
Production of the first batch of Arjun Mark-II MBTs is likely to start by 2015.

Thum! Kaun Aata Hai?: DRDO Seeks Additional Diehl Track System 570 Z0 for Arjun MBT Mk-2 As Trials Progress

Sir firstly the question was can the bridges carry Arjun then the answer is yes ....
Secondly why was is overweight... because of some tank testing in pakistan and few add ons which Russian tanks didnt has where asked by IA....
and all these do add weight to Tank...
Your armour of Arjun is better than the T90s .... Then comes your accuracy its better and prooven ....

when do we need tanks always at the time of crisis so it will be justified then ....

Instead of tin tanks (T90 ) we could have had removed few addons unnecessary or not high priority reduced weight a little say 2-3 tonne and then have inducted it...

As far as military equipment goes, it is applicable to all.

Yet, that underrating cannot be taken as a norm to push to the limit, except in a crisis.

This is what is the litmus test.

The main bridges can handle more than 80tons, The bridges located in rural or small town and cities cannot even take care of 40tons ..

T-90 made in India is +52 tons due to kanchan Armour compare to Russian 48-49tons, But share same track width hence making its ground pressure much worse compare to MK2 ..

Then what i was trying to convey was correct even with the fact that the Arjun is a bit heavier it is better than some of the Russian tanks in terms of load exerted..
and
if our bridges are fit for those Russian tanks how come they are not suitable for Arjun ... weird....

An Image of Arjun MK1 being carried over such an trailer ..

Sir jee ,are these tires tubeless ? because if we had a Tyre burst then whole 70 ton would roll over some one

The system is made by IRDE under Tot, The version IRDE produced is advance than the one mounted over present prototype ..

==========================>>

Imported COAPS >>

The imported COAPS, Which is for only testing on prototypes, Its thermal sight range is 5kms, Few of these are purchased only for prototype testing ..

============
============

The IRDE version >>

They system is made by IRDE with Elbits collaboration, But it produce by private sector ..

============
============

VEM`s COAPS >>

VEM COAPs under tot from IRDE

==================================

Besides COAPS, All other electronics for MK2 will be produce by Indian companies both Pvt and Gov, Research will be done by DRDO on enhancements ..

Is it a version of the COAPS or in-house development by IRDE??And the thermal imager in this system,is it imported??

End this debate, Indian Army go ahead and place the order.

Too bad T-90. It has to be an Indian solution. Also stop importing spare parts.
