It's not something India cant produce.

By the time MBT 2020, Mark 3 goes on. Parallel ammo developments will take place.
i hope so, but so far they havent produced one on a decent level.

If India can produce SLBMs, test their own BVRAAMs from their SUs in a month, and have nuclear submarines in sea trials.... Tank ammo shouldn't be overly complicated.

it is the issue, making an apfsds-t is by no means easy, ask OFB engneers.

i stand corrected, the penetration value is not 320 but 300mm at 2000 m

This thing was developed waaaay back in the days.

You can even see it with one of the old prototypes.

Im sure they can produce ones that are decent.

I know, they should've developed further, better ones.
Looking on this forum posts this thinking is present for many (IMHO to many) time.

As I understand Indian Army bought super-expensive now 3BM42 from Russia? And Arjun "new" 120mm APFSDS is not ended or even tested yet?

I mentioned "possible" scenarios where mbts might see each other at longer distances, HEAT may well come into equation. :)

On apfsds, IMI screwed OFB big time in apfsds development, shells were below standard, several issues with propellant charge, and then IMI got blacklisted.

On shtora, IIRC, Russia wanted a separate contract signed which India refused.
do you have any answer to 6+ km LAHAT with non line of sight, BTW CLGM is modified LAHAT with heavy warhead. What do you have to say for that, what is the max range of engagement of Al khalid or T80UD ? Please also post if the missile on both are beam rider or firing for non line of sight.
