No, I didn't say that 30mm canon could not be used in aerial combat. But here, 23mm will be more punch as they are lighter, rate of fire is more and have more ammo to shoot too. One more disadvantage of 30mm in air is that it will heat up very quickly as you have to engage in dogfight constantly.

In fact GSh-23 is heavier then GSh-30-1. GSh-23 does have volume, but GSh-30-1 does have accuracy. Moreover with its high volume of fire it would be GSh-23 with its double barrel which would get heated up faster.

No, I meant to say canon rounds of GSH-30-1 are more heavier otherwise how can they have so much destructive power? I don't agree with you on the heat issue.

Rate of fire of GSh-30-1 is that of 1500 rnds/min whereas GSh-23 is of 3400 rnds/min,i.e we could say that it comes down to 1500 per barrel. So heating would be same in both the cases.

How does GSH-30-1 differ from 9A-4071K?

It looks like the former is the name based on the design bureau, and the latter is the project code.

It is an improved version. It can be used as any mode of firing. I agree they could have given a much simpler name!

I know about GSh-30-2 and GSh-30-6, but they are not improved versions. They can be used for other purposes. You can google about 9A-4071K.

I have seen enough English and Russian articles on net. All mentioned that it is improved ver. of GSh-30-1 and will be used in both PAK-FA and FGFA in their right levcon root.

Got it..... But its 9A1-4071K instead of 9A-4071K. You missed the 1 in first place . But both 9A and 9A1 is same platform and we have to wait to see what sort of improvement were done in the later one.
