A noob question. Why India is obsessed with MMRCA a medium role fighter? We do have 36 Rafale and MK2 in progress.

Follow on 36*2 rafale order and 100+ MK2 will be good enough for Medium weight.

Why is India not focused on heavy weight fighters in such deals?

But buying say 114 heavy weight fighters worth $ 20 billion will give us very advance tech as well which is not the case with Su-30 MKI.

FOV of a single IRST Sensor is more than 1π Steradian.

There will be a minimum of 6 sensors (excluding the frontal irst).

6 sensors for a complete 4π steradian coverage.
