But these bastards here are not the people you need to show this, are they?.. Go write some mean caption on Twitter or Reddit, like Has the effects of cousin-fucker blood entering the bat-eater genepool finally started to show its effect?"

Hello all. I'm new here.

I have followed the Tejas saga for a decade or so including the abortive Kaveri programme.

AMCA is an aircraft where perhaps the greatest unknown is how it will be powered. Without an engine providing adequate power it will have serious shortcomings.

What is the most likely course of action?

Pay GE to increase the power of the F414? What would that cost?
Pay Safran to redesign Kaveri with more power and limited TOT? What would that cost?
Pay RR to design an engine with limited TOT? What would that cost?
A JV with an established western manufacturer with TOT thrown in? IMHO that is a fantasy.

How much did India spend on Kaveri? I think less than $500 million. I suspect that the cost of any of the above possible options may surpass the entire spend on the Kaveri programme over 15 or so years and still leave India unable to design and produce her own fast jet engine.

Jv with rr with ipr is best option looking at uk economy and rr rrcent order book. Also they are part of tempest so if we can chur out them well enough through young generation scientist , it would be useful

Till then 414 is selected

For ref at today's exchange rate:
Β£1 sterling = 99+ Indian rupees
Β£1 sterling = US$1.35+

??? RR defence order book last financial year: Β£5.3 billion (up 25% on previous year)

I imagine that RR would be interested in a JV and conceivably would transfer some IPR but that would not come cheap. RR spent over Β£1 billion on R&D (all sectors) last financial year.

F414 does not produce the 110kN needed so AMCA Mk1 is going to be underpowered. I suspect that a very substantial amount of money wiould be needed for India to get anywhere near having a fast jet engine capability.

Does IP include complete know how and know why for the core of the engine to be developed?
