There was a unmanned ground combat system as well at Aero India. Do you have more details about it? It looked pretty amazing. I think it had a RL mounted on it.
No I only collect info from open source
If I had been in aero India I would not have even bothered to post all these pictures.

I would have posted my own collection

Seriously no pictures available from the indoor display except from PSK.

Indian defence jurnos are such douche bags

I am now counting on SJHA , he last time posted 3 GB of pictures from defexpo.

I thought they were using a homegrown diesel engine we saw at Defexpo 2018?

Compare the engine cowl on Rustom 2 and the same on the DRDO diesel engine above.

drdo engine shape including air intakes , blades etc is exactly same as the one on the Rustom 2 , so do your own conclusion

And lastly pictures of Rustom 2 flying with the new engines.

I seriously don't understand the Indian journalists

you are right but he attended the show and he is a very knowledgeable person and I have hardly any reason to doubt what he is saying.

It'd be better if we had the picture of the information poster/board lying in front of Tapas. That'd make things more clear.

Well his observations on LCA mk2 and Rustom 2 are in conflict with official Info.

Neither did he post any pictures of brochures , posters from the developers etc in support of his claims.

Most of what he said is better taken as his personal opinions or observations untill confirmed via other sources or official sources

And ultimately it also depends on who you want to believe.

He is an ex jag Pilot of IAF who also flew marut briefly. He had a lot if misgivings against Marut - hence HAL initially and wrote frequently against both of them in early version of website/blog he maintained(now no longer available) I think it was called as thumkaunata something like that or I could be wrong on name(I am not referring to current blogspot version http://thumkar.blogspot.com/).

I would not discount his writings. Sometime I think he has his own biases, but still his articles in some areas are well worthy of reading

Uttam radar on LCA has 700 TRMs , it is determined by the SWaP constraints of LCA.

The no of TRMs can be increased depending on the type of aircrafts it will be fitted to.

It's quite possible if the Uttam radar for LCA is successfully , it might end up in other aircrafts like SU30MKI etc

India can now quickly build bigger jets, says DRDO chief

India can now quickly build bigger jets

Ajay Banerjee
Tribune News Service
Bengaluru, February 23

After the final operational clearance (FOC) of Light Combat Aircraft Tejas, India is now looking at a rapid multi-pronged effort to build the next class of fighter jets having more powerful engines and potent weaponry.

Dr G Satheesh Reddy, who is Secretary, Defence Research and Development, and also Chairman of DRDO, said, “The FOC for Tejas is a landmark for the country. From here on, we can produce faster (jets).” The design for the Medium Weight Fighter (MWF) is ready. The prototype will be ready by 2021-end,” the senior defence scientist added.

The Tejas weighs 6.5 tonnes and the MWF is the next class and targeted to weigh around 17 tonnes. The Aeronautical Development Agency and the Indian Air Force (IAF) have designed it as per the requirement of the IAF. It will have an engine of 98 Kilonewton (Kn) thrust.

Also, India is looking to take a technological leap. The DRDO is now in talks with an international partner to make a jet engine of 110 Kn power. So far, no such engine exists anywhere in the world. “We are open to working on this and are in talks with partners for joint development,” said Dr Reddy, adding this engine could be used on future jets.

On being asked about the Kaveri engine, Dr Reddy said it would be used on UAVs. “It is not being shelved.” Notably, Kaveri’s thrust is about 75 Kn and 90 Kn is desired to power a fighter jet.

The Ministry of Defence has already informed Parliament about the technological difficulties of engine-making, including non-availability of raw material/critical components and skilled manpower.

On the much-debated construction timeline for the variants of Tejas, Dr Reddy, who took over as DRDO Chairman in August last year, said the first 20 of the Initial Operational Clearance (IOC) version will be ending very soon. The production of 20 jets under the FOC version would start this year and would be done in two years. We are waiting for the IAF to place an order for 83 jets of the Mark 1A version.

On the engine of the Arjun tank, so far imported from MTU Germany, Dr Reddy said, “A new engine is being developed and will be tested.”
