8 GE F414 engines are already in India LoL,more than enough for prototype development
Again this is NOT the point. As per multiple reports now the PMO/GoI is withholding funding for the prototypes/project until the GE deal is signed (still a long way from being signed)

it explains why even after ‘sanction’ from CCS last year all subsequent updates had LCA MK.2 rollout slipping back further and further. What was the latest update? Late 2024? Project is standing still by being starved of money

Clown country seriously.

So this theory was true
Here people were constantly blaming janes for such news but it has been true
No wonder why timeline was being lagged constantly so after funds released right now then prototype building will complete in 2026 and ff 2027 then induction 2032-34
Is that article of livefest

Yeah that news didn’t just come out of nowhere, it would have been an incredibly weird thing to just imagine up

times now

Even now the GE deal isn’t signed only more PR spin- an MOU was signed that’s it. They have to go through the legislative and administrative red tape on both sides still, perfect plausible it’s not signed this year so another year of starving MK.2 of funding

Not going to happen, it need more time to fine tune a sensor fused jet and majority of tech still under development or research, plus slow slow fund sanction and release also results in further delay.
Look like lca mk2 enter service during the same time 6th gen enter production, PLAAF 6tg gen, PAF 5th gen
giving F35 a edge against AMCA

The same clowns were reporting that deal for 5 QRSAM systems were signed, they are even more unreliable than IDRW.
Unless there are plans to use the 8 GE F-414 engines as Air Conditioners for the MoD, they will be used for Tejas MK2 prototype development.

There is no TD phase as per last communication from ADA . It's all prototypes.

It’ll still have to go sit in CCS holding patterns at the end of all this

even IMRH is still yet to be sanctioned by CCS

the more time goes by the more I’m disgusted by the disconnect in the rhetoric and follow through of their govt. at least UPA didn’t have the shamelessness to proclaim self reliance and then do nothing towards it. This Govt has slow balled every single IDDM project and sat on most of them (FICV, HTT-40, IMRH, AWACS(I), AMCA, TEDBF, LCA MK.2, ATAGS etc etc etc). They’ll make a big show of nothingness (DAC approvals and AONs) but in ~10 years very little bad actually been achieved strategically/industrially

The issue isn't the 8 nos GE F-414 we possess . These were procured under the first phase of funding for the FSED program. It's the second tranche of funding which hasn't been released in spite of being approved in September / October 2022 which itself was delayed as the CDR was undertaken by September / October 2021 & funding for the second tranche sought then , lack of which has effectively stopped the program in its tracks.

Beginning Aero India 2021 there was plenty of confidence in the program where detailed T/L were disclosed by ADA / DRDO which is all too well known today mostly for non adherence. What's even more galling is that all the other successor programs viz AMCA & TEDBF are inter linked to the Mk-2 project. Without the latter the former can't be undertaken which means any delays in the T/L of the Mk-2 & the whole cycle gets disrupted.

We've no clue why's funding being held up by the GoI offering what seems like excuses which seem hard to digest . Moreover the IAF for it's part is silent too especially in the light of falling air squadrons. Something is amiss & has been so for quite some time between the GoI /MoD & IAF.

NDA till date has ordered -
  • 32 Tejas Mk1 with 8 Trainers.
  • 73 Tejas Mk1A with 10 Trainers.
  • 70 HTT-40 aircrafts.
  • 40 C-295 to be manufactured in India.
I see all these projects as building blocks for our self reliance.

Tejas Mk2 has already received CCS approval & the definite timeline has been chalked out. (No more HAL empty promises without having funds)

They already have 8 GE F-414 engines with only 4 prototypes ment to be built before serial production. So the final engine deal still has time till maybe 2024 or whatever.

People citing multiple sources to claim blockade of funds by GoI should also consider a possibility that all these reports are just the duplication of the same report, most often which is the case.

That would involve taking deep breathes, taking time to think & then respond. This goes totally against well established tradition of knee jerk reactions, hyperventilation & lashing out with conspiracy theories. We all know how much we are pro-tradition

All this is happening because nobody wants any of these fighter jets. The IAF brain trust has never been excited about a desi jet, the MoD bureaucrats hate this idea because their personal account is terribly affected, & the ADA loves these long-drawn affairs because if you don't release anything then there is no failure. The delays will force the Govt.'s hand to make urgent purchases. The solution to all this is to invite Rafale & Lockheed Martin to form a JV and start manufacturing Rafale & F21.

32 Tejas Mk1 with 8 Trainers. deal done by UPA gov, ada & hal took more than a decade to deliver them
Rest. 73 mk1a, 70 htt 40 still undergoing trials
C 285 deal started by UPA gov. GoI took more than a decade to sign the deal

The deal for 8 GE F-414 engine done by UPA gov
NDA gov cancelled 126 mmrca & brought 36 mmrca & started lca mk1a , ordered 73 of them plus 10 trainers
