There seems no urgency in govt even after galwan fiasco. Everything is moving at it own damn pace. Delayed tejas mk2 coming in next decade, AMCA funding still not in sight, no submarine orders, no aerial refuellers, insignificant orders of LuH-LCH, no atags, no carbines etc. Dont know if it this is policy paralysis or not but things are really looking bad. Somebody higher up is really betting too much against possibility of war

Government is betting on the fact that there will be no major escalation with China, only some minor army incidents. Probably they are thinking that China's main focus is on the South China Sea and have limited interest in the Tibet region. But this strategy may backfire if some unhinged President just want to rally nationalism and attack India. Moreover we should always prepare for the worst, but government is numb on most of the defense developments.

6 prototypes in 5-6 years means they plan to build all 6 prototypes in the coming 5-6 years. First one will be ready by 2024, with flight in 2025 as per the recent timeline. Following that, more prototypes will come out from 2025,2026,2027,2028 and 2029.
Induction timeline seems to be aligned around the same time as retirement of Jaguars which we should see from around 2030 onwards.

Never the less, again, really missing Late Manohar Parrikar. Rajnath Singh has been a complete failure. Its clear whatever advances we made in our Defence industry, be it Tejas mk1A, HTT40, LUH ,Dhanush, etc, etc was not due to Modi but due to that one man - Manohar Parrikar.

Atleast before 2016, there were some excuses indigenous projects were not ready yet but now there is no such excuses. Indigenous projects are ready but no order. In fact we are back to pre 2020 Galwan level in terms of preparedness. More announcement jumlas than actual procurements

Yes exactly all we hear is of RFI, RFP, AON’s etc but no CCS approval or contract signature. People are being fooled by mere announcements and no induction. With general elections due in May-24 I fear the process will get further deferred. The govt failure on the artillery front is totally inexplicable. Any update on ATAGS procurement. Looks like tiny Armenia will induct our most powerful weapon before us.

That’s tragic really. Things were far better in 70’s and 80’s too when we had so much modern equipment inducted from Jaguars, Mirage-2000, MiG-29, T-72, BMP-2, Bofors etc. In the last 2 decades post Kargil despite having both NDA and UPA hardly anything has been inducted. Even Poland and Egypt are far ahead of us despite having no threats.

ADA signed deal to acquire first lot of [8/16] GE F414engines in 2013, under UPA rule and GE started delivering them in 2018/19 - end of story
ADA completed CDR of LCA mk2 in 2021, Now ADA working on prototypes , in making, but that doesn't mean in assembly. HAL do assembly work, better to ask HAL about rollout of mk2.
Boeing waiting for US gov approval for assembling engines in HAL and these engines are meant for SP aircraft, not for proto or test aircraft. ADA already having 4+ engine to make mk2

Lack of opposition voice in Parliament to force govt to do meaningful changes. And that emboldens the govt to do almost nothing.
