Looks like beyond all the drama they've done over the past few weeks, it's still the same old Americ*nt trickery and hot-air.The agreement includes the potential joint production of GE Aerospace’s F414 engines in India, and GE Aerospace continues to work with the US government to receive the necessary export authorization for this. The effort is part of the Indian Air Force’s Light Combat Aircraft Mk2 program: GE Aerospace
You can't have an agreement without Congress approval & certification by the President. The next step would be to introduce a bill in the House of Representatives get it passed , then move the Senate , get it passed there , place it before the President for it to become an Act after which you'd have a formal agreement. Its just MoU @Vamsi . Seems some things have yet to agree on. This is just face saver for Indian govt for item which was hyped so much before visit.
If they were serious, much of above would have taken place before modi visited US.You can't have an agreement without Congress approval & certification by the President. The next step would be to introduce a bill in the House of Representatives get it passed , then move the Senate , get it passed there , place it before the President for it to become an Act after which you'd have a formal agreement.
The truth is this is probably some screwdriver-giri agreement with extra steps, we don't get sanctions-proof, we don't get to make all the high tech engine components from scratch, but maybe only the "spare parts" tier items that have to be replaced in regular MRO over the course of the fighter jet/engine's service life. Its just MoU @Vamsi . Seems some things have yet to agree on. This is just face saver for Indian govt for item which was hyped so much before visit.
This won't happen and it will be by design, they will have some more onerous T&C they'll want GoI to accept, and GoI will tell them to fuck off, just like the years past. You can't have an agreement without Congress approval & certification by the President. The next step would be to introduce a bill in the House of Representatives get it passed , then move the Senate , get it passed there , place it before the President for it to become an Act after which you'd have a formal agreement.
We have signed them plenty of times.. with GE.Its just MoU @Vamsi . Seems some things have yet to agree on. This is just face saver for Indian govt for item which was hyped so much before visit.
It's already been released, 8 GE F414 engines made it to India's shores back in 2013-14, more than enough for the 4 prototypes to be made for Tejas MK2.So bhratas will funding for Mk2 be released now or what ?
