it is an article by IDRW - a cut paste job - they simply pick it up from somewhere and put it up

and the source here is stratpostvayu = the same guys who advocated shutting down tejas and that Tejas is not a fighter but a trainer

they are at it again running down indegenous efforts and spreading doubts about the radars and its origins

The indigenous effort is definitely there, but they can still import from Israel for the 20 FOC fighters. This fills the gap until local radar is developed. They could not import it earlier due to restrictions from USA.

I think El/M 2052 will give an edge to Tejas in BVR combat against most PAF fighters.

^^^^correction all PAF fighters...the EL-2052 in pure specs has a range over over 220NM and can track a whopping 64 targets, its better than the RBE2.

^^^based on this, it should be deployed onthe Mig-29upg, Mirages & Mig-29K, would instantly turn these birds into nightmares for Pak or China while making them 4.5 gen fighters.

Sources in the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) told Deccan Herald that the LCA Prototype Vehicle-1 (PV-1) has now been fitted with a radar-warning receiver, a radar-warning jammer, laser warner, missile-approach warner, emitter, and a flare dispenser. The systems are now undergoing ground trials with aeronautical engineers simulating multiple threats to the aircraft and then examining its response.

DRDO has taken up the development of flight control RADAR for Fighter Aircraft with 100 km range and multimode operation. Airworthy Radar processor and exciter - receiver have been realised and tested on a high rise platform in Mechanical Scanned Array configuration (MSA) for validation of various algorithms and waveforms of the fire control radar. Software development for Air-Air sub modes has been carried out.

In the past France exported mirage fighter to both Pakistan and india.but Russia never gave any vital military equipment to pak .so Russia is a reliable friend of india.Rather than this su 30 mki far more capable than Rafale jet.so iaf should terminate the tender to procure double amount of air Superiority fighter su 30 mki by which the maintainace issue can also be resolved .Apart from that, iaf should utilize some fund for faster development of LCA mk 2 fighter.

India is still laging behind many nations in producing AESA radar,advance EW suits ,modern avionics for which it depends heavily on foreign nations .even our kaveri engine now become a myth .so if iaf utilize some parts of these huge 30 billion dollar in R&D ,then at least 80% component for tejas can be developed indigenously .apart from that 126 no of su 30 mki will cost roughly around 10 billion dollars.so iaf can utilise the remaining fund in faster development of hal LCA mk 2 and Hal AMCA .even they can use the remaining fund for other projects like procurement of AWACS, refueling aircrafts, rustom 2 UAV,more no of special operation aircraft like c130j etc.total procurement cost of 126 Rafale will be nearly 30 billion so within this amount iaf can buy 400 no.s of su 30 mki aircraft ( or more than 500 no.s of combination of both su 30 mki and LCA mk 2). No doubt that mmrca was a prosperous and ambitious project for iaf during 2001-02 with procurement cost of 10 billion but now the situation is different. Now LCA mk 2 and fgfa will be ready in 2-3 and 5-7yr respectively. So after reading all these things, just tell me should not we give a chance to our indigenous product rather than giving a huge amount to a foreign nation .<br/>

The Congressi govt starved DRDO of funds (same with department of Atomic Energy). 10 years of Congressi rules has been absolute disaster for local projects. Many projects are not complete primarily due to lack of funds.

It is easy to blame DRDO but nobody blames the government. The real blame lies at the door of government. It is government's job to make sure the projects are executed on time. The government has all the powers - fiscal and executive to make that happen.

It is vested interests in political class and defence services who are against local development of weapons. The amount of money siphoned from weapons import is mind-boggling. This money is what speaks through various forums, specially through planted press reports.

The first thing BJP government did was to release needed funds to DRDO. This has restarted stalled projects. However it will take some time before the results appear. Be patient. I am very confident that all major projects related to missiles, Tejas aircraft, and submarines will yield results.

No.I don't mean to say that rather I am emphasizing the utilisation of fund for faster development of vital indigenous military hardwares mentioned above.

I think Su 30 is a Air Dominance/Superiority Fighter and LCA is a Trainer/Light Attack/Point Interceptor

What you need to do is to learn, not think!!!!!
If su-30 is a air dominance fighter in russian airforce , then what was the role of Mig-29 recon fighter or CAS fighter.
You dont even know the basic fact that heavy weight high load carrying long distance flying fighters are like Su-30 series are mainly used for strike and light weight , lesser range lower pay load carrying fighters like Mig-29 are used primarily for air defence.
Russia Has Air Superiority Fighters Like Su 35 , Su 27 ,Su 30 SM along with MiG 29 . For Interception they Use the MIG 31 Fox Hound , for Ground Attack and CAS Su 25 Frogfoot . And Penetration and Heavy Strike for Su 24 Fencer . for heavy Bombing Role They use the Su 34 . these are all fall in the Fighter category . they don't have a Multi role Aircraft . MiG is trying to Modernize MiG 35 as a Multirole But it's not Met the Requirements

the high wing loading flanker airframe started out as strike fighters not air dominance fighters. It was the failure of the MIG and the addition of thrust vectoring that has made them usable for air to air role also. Even then their elephant sized RCS when fully loaded means they have the disadvantage of being detected earlier than smaller RCS loaded fighters like mig-29 and tejas.
Their Threat is nothing They don't want to Go for Again ..their Mission is Intercepting and Escorting Civilian Planes and Bombing Terrorists Hideout in Somewhere in the Middle East or Africa

tejas was designed as multi role from word go.
LCA never started off as point defence fighter. It is the import lobby planted media news carrying jounos who repeatedly parrot this disgusting lie. From the TD-1 to LSP-8 and SP-1 the fuel capacity of tejas has not increased by a liter. IOC-2 release document states that tejas can fly to distances over 1750 Km in combat. So when did tejas start off as point defence fighter?

tejas fuel fraction(weight of the fuel/empty weight of the fighter ) is comparable to any other modern fighter. In mk2 it is set to improve further. This was achieved by using significant amount of composites which weighs less for the volume they occupy compared to metal alloys, and they also give longer airframe life.

Please go to ADA tejas website and read Air marshal MSD Woolen's aeroindia 2001 article which clearly states that tejas was designed as multi role fighter with a naval version from the word go.

for more than two years you and a few friends of yours are repeating this soiled lie that tejas is a point defence /trainer /interceptor.
First list the fuel fraction, wing loading, radome dia , longer range BVr missiles, and thrust to weight ratio of all modern fighters in a neat tablet column and see how tejas scores.

Then you can see where tejas stands.

tejas has a combat radius of 500 Km even without the certification of central fuel tank in hot indian conditions where high ambient temp can sap 10 percent of engine thrust and 10 percent of wing lift.

It can fly 1750 km non stop in combat as per IOC-2 release without the certification of center line fuel tank.

It can carry all LGBs in IAF inventory and all long range BVr missiles with a radome dia bigger than even rafale.

Surely when brahmos mini is going to be developed tejas mk2 should be able to carry it, making it as potent as any strkie fighter in the world for long range stand off strikes.

With a couple of ASM two rafale s in their high temp high altitude indian ocean reunoin island flight took six total fuel loads and 10.5 hours to cross the 1000 Km.
Please calculate the range and endurance for this flight and post.

So many MNC fighter makers can bluff fancy ranges and loads for their fighters in brochures, but reality is sobering, it is mostly like those fance mileage figures given for bikes under ,"test condition". In real world they dont apply.

I have already put this question to you three times you are still maintaining a well kept silence on this rafale's reunion flight range and endurance.

Then we will see which is a point defence fighter?

For your info I have already posted a HAL aeroindia 2013 poster which says that tejas has an endurance of 2.5 hours.Which point defence fighter has such endurance?

The IAF is also against ordering any more Mk-1s. They have sent a report to GOI on 'issues' with the Mk-I as well.Further he adds.
*IAF wants ADA to handover Mk-II development to some sort ofan industry consortium led by HALwith phoren consultancy support.
* Apparently ramping up LCA prodn numbers currently has supply chain constraints in composites etc.
* However all stakeholders agree thatGE et all will set many facilities in India if orders are large enough.
* The IAF is recommending a merger of ADA with HAL.
* Recommendation for a ministry of aerospace has also been made.

It is interesting to see that IAF takes this government for fools.
IAF is trying to mislead anybody and everybody.

The problem of composites is ultimately tied to order size. India has no already established factories. The factories have to be set up for everything related to Tejas. The capacity will not come in a vacuum.

Our estimate is that Kavery engine factory itself will cost in billions.

The biggest cost of this fighter is going to be manufacturing resources. But the benefit is that these factories can be used for unlimited number of planes in future.
