Since HAL mentioned 36 months from contract to delivery of 1st unit
+ 5 years of Mk1a at 16/year..

Not exactly, the 8 initial + 10 followup =18 trainers (all FOC) by mid-23.
From then 73 Mark1A delivery starts. The line is to be expanded between 2021-23 to 20+ a year. Plans are to deliver a squadron a year. So, between 3-4.

HAL chairman claims that HAL can increase production to 20 aircraft/year, but for that they will need confirmed orders.

About time we have it.
We have 3 different Fighter aircrafts under development apart from Tejas which will come online in next 15-20 years.We should have Some Nomenclature or naming system for aircrafts.Same for helicopters.Atleast 2 new helicopters are under development.

We will do what we have always done. Go through Sanskrit to find some Wonderful name for our weaponry.

We have the most ancient vocabulary for weapons. Were you not watching ramayan and Mahabharata reruns. So many weapons name to choose from lol.

I am all up for Sanskrit names.But a numeric scheme would also be better.

France names it's jets differently . We could do the same .

Sanskrit name and numeric name both could work together once we have many jets .

Still, mk2 production will only enter full rate by 2027-2028, considering 3 years for ramp up production by 2023 and another 4 years to fulfill all mk1/1a orders if production is ordered today.
