So at the end of the day the conclusion is that despite conventional and economic superiority we cant do much because of whatever reasons.

Then why buy billions of dollars of weapons? For display?

This frustrating and sad.

So do you want to destroy your own country in order to defeat Pakistan

Then why buy billions of dollars of weapons? For display?
For Deterence purpose and for drawing Pakistan into an expensive arms race
which it knows it cannot win but yet it is getting bankrupted by
its defence expenditure

This frustrating and sad
It is Pakis who are frustrated and sad because they are unable to get kashmir

Their kashmir obsession has brought them to this position

from this thread http://defenceforumindia.com/forum/...icy-a-total-failure.77873/page-9#post-1239665
previously posted this on wrong thread I guess, any how

It's time time to take neelum valley

There are two Options one Push into POK(ajk) or into GB.

I would discuss about POK(AJK) here. Let's see how feasible it is.

Army already keeps the record of all topography of the area. They know the major tributaries in the POK.

One such tributary is the Neelum river. Which passes through Neelam valley. Instead of pushing into Punjab and eyeing whole POK take it piece wise.

I would start with Neelam valley to be penetrated first. Whole concentration of force ( offence) should be concentrated in this region.

Why
1) Low population : 1.5 lakhs
2) Largest District of their POK(AJK not GB), big region
3) River Neelum ( one of the major tributary of Indus) flows through this and this valley is very wide can be used to build reservoir
4) Mostly accessible from Muzzafarabad which is at lower altitude and slope increases from Athmuqam
5) Away from Skardu
6) Fertile area

So here is the possible military scenario

Untitled.png

The marked circles are strategic points basically possible entry points and heights and the arrows are possible Indian military mobilisation that will be swift.

The first circle ( below ) is the 1st entry points which connects Neelum valley with Muzzafarabad. Which has to be blocked.

Then we have Athmuqam which is the disst HQ. which lies near to Keran sector ( where most of the action is taking place in Cease fire violation)

Second circle is the Shikar Gali, 14k ft. , Tiger hill was 17k ft. Which is one of the most important strategic location and probably Pakis having post on that hill and nearby features to observe Athmuqam and road going toward Surangan Gali. Once this post is fallen, the 70% Neelam valley will be under Indian control. Here India would require air support and heavy saturation arty shelling before the assault. Without that neutralising them would be close to impossible.

Since it is wide valley, hence moving arty towards Athmuqam would be risky, as they will be open targets to paki shelling. There fore suitable place needs to be located.

Third circle is another prominent strategic location Surangan Gali at 15k ft. As equivalent to as tiger hill which observes the town of Sharda and motorway into Neelum from Islamabad region. Fall of this post is necessary as it observes large area from where they can possibly hit Indian reservoir projects in the Neelam valley in future. Hence to gain this peak, either you cut their supply by hitting the road at the west side of Shikar Gali which runs along Indus. Or, air strikes. It will most probably similar to Kargil type operation.

No doubt Pakistan is at advantage in POK Hence without air support taking back even a chunk of POK is not possible.

your take guys ...

Your Point ?

------------------------------------------
That is the reason they increased their support to jihadist, and actively felicitating infiltration. If we want to retaliate we should go for full blown war. In my opinion LoC firing will only help pakis to push more zombies to india

your take guys ...
When the surgical strikes happened ; There was a news that Two Pakistani
trucks were coming to the spot where Indian commandos were blowing up the Pakis but they stopped and turned back

Now that shows that Ingress into mountainous areas such as POK
is very very difficult and will lead to large casualties

Pakis will bleed on the LOC even with shallow attacks and Fire assaults

We can escalate to MBRL s and Glide bombs being dropped on their
posts

But a Large scale invasion of POK will lead to many Indian casualties

Kargil was different ; we were fighting for our own land

There are a 1.3 Billion plus people to whom we have to justify such
an adventure

Let us wait for Heart of Asia conference to end

http://www.hindustantimes.com/punja...i-to-attend/story-rH8ETV422QMYtnymsLvvUM.html

Amritsar set to host Heart of Asia meet; PM Modi, Afghan president Ghani to attend

The holy city is all set to host the 6th Heart of Asia ministerial conference beginning Saturday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani among top dignitaries scheduled to attend the event.

The two-day conference, which focuses on regional cooperation between Afghanistan and its neighbours to improve connectivity and tackle security threats, also assumes significance as Sartaj Aziz, adviser to Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, will be leading the Pakistani delegation.

Though no bilateral talks between India and Pakistan are scheduled on the sidelines of the conference, the participation of the Aziz-led Pakistani delegation is expected to help diffuse the ongoing tensions between the two countries.

Delegates from over 30 countries, including around 15 Asian nations, will be participating in the conference, whose theme this year is ‘Addressing Challenges, Achieving Prosperity’.

Foreign secretaries will have deliberations on Saturday while the ministers will attend the conference on Sunday.

PM Modi, President Ghani and Aziz will also attend the event on Sunday.

The focus of the event will be on regional issues, with a view to encouraging peace, political and economic cooperation between Afghanistan and its neighbours.

The ‘Heart of Asia—Istanbul Process’ was founded in 2011 and the first conference was held at Istanbul that year.

Meanwhile, Modi and Ghani are likely to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple. The PM may also visit the newly built Heritage Street and have dinner at the heritage village ‘Saada Pind’ on the Attari road.

This is for the first time that India is hosting this conference. Amritsar has reportedly been chosen as the venue as it is a connecting point of Asian countries and is close to Afghanistan. It is also learnt that the Modi government wants to bring such international conferences out of the national capital to showcase other Indian cities.

CITY TURNS INTO FORTRESS

The holy city has turned into a fortress with high security arrangements having been made for the high-profile event

Taking no chances, the administration has deployed 11 companies of the paramilitary forces and over 5,000 cops in Amritsar.

Almost all major hotels in the city have been booked and nakas set up all over the city. As Hotel Radisson is the main venue for the conference, it is being guarded very closely.

Hotel Taj Vivanta, where the PM will be staying, has also been cordoned-off and heavy security deployment has been made around it.

STRAP/BLURB PM Modi, Afghan President to attend event; Sartaj Aziz to lead Pak delegation, but no bilateral talks scheduled

We are getting destroyed brick by brick.Time we retaliate and really increase their cost of this war they are waging on us.

For Deterence purpose and for drawing Pakistan into an expensive arms race
which it knows it cannot win but yet it is getting bankrupted by
its defence expenditure
They get bankrolled by their patrons.First US now China. And they are not concerned about their ordinary people. The Army wants its power, money and luxury.

And have we deterred Pakistan from hitting our civilians or Army?Deterrent works when the other side knows that we are willing to use it.

It is Pakis who are frustrated and sad because they are unable to get kashmir

Their kashmir obsession has brought them to this position
They forgot about Kashmir decades back. Now its only a propoganda to keep the pot simmering and bleed India.

The low key reaction post Nagrota attack means that there wont be any retaliation. The surgical strikes failed to deter the pakis and the govt is unwilling to go up the escalation ladder.
