I can very well understand the sentiment here and all the questions right from how is it possible to why families are their, Well first of all any sentry whose at the first check point is a DETERRENCE at the same point VULNERABLE too.in this case this was a forced entry with 3 grenades lobbed at the two sentries guarding the entry point who later succumbed to the injuries. The first target which came in sight was the Officers Mess and so the hostage situation,Maj Kaushal who lost his life was getting ready for the PT session and was to assemble at the ground he was responsible for thwarting the attackers from killing the families which were sleeping at the time imagine what would have happened if these chaps would have taken over,
All this took place in the first 12 min of the forced entry and after that it was all about containing the situation.
And how the Does the Army do it ??
You locate from where the fire is coming and fire back and pin them down.
Cover fire allows men to take different positions close to the militants.
someone somewhere makes sense of what is happening and how to contain and neutralize the scumbags along with finding out what exactly is the strength of these pigs as the eye witnesses are themselves casualties.
All what I am telling here is the first-hand account of what happened and i may pls be corrected if i am wrong
Was their a fuckup somewhere?? Yes !! Court of inquiry will find out how and who were responsible.
A man who has come to die will surely inflict some damage on you no matter what, Indeed these damages can be minimised and this is what the Army has to focus on.
I can visualize the series of events that would have unfolded today through your informative post !! It is clear that both inner as well as outer security perimeter was breached through UGBL+burst fire that lead to martyrdom of our 7 valiant soldiers including 2 officers. It is really hard for those being associated with the soldiers who are being posted there and pray for their well being when any such attacks happen... It could be understood that sentiments erupt when causalities happen due to these fidayeen scums..
Dramatic jump
"While the total number of violent incidents in Kashmir has only gone up marginally from previous years, the number of security personnel killed or injured has dramatically risen. Until September 30, 2016, a total of 63 security personnel had been killed in Kashmir while 181 were injured. The death toll among security agencies could go up by another 20 by the end of the year, if the trend in violence continues. It would be the highest number of security personnel killed in a single year after 2007."

It is evident that in this year the causalities are highest since 2007. In your opinion, what could be reason for that ? Apart from increase in infiltration incidences which in itself poses questions to the border security, what other reasons are driving terrorists to inflict heavy causalities on us? And second question, what we are doing or could be done to provide effective deterrence against such a terrorist attack? If the local population is hostile towards our forces and supplying logistics to the fidayeens why don't we impose martial law to flush out terrorists and their sympathizers from each and every house of kashmir.
