There's no doubt that Maldives (in its present incarnation) and Afghanistan have special importance for India and vice versa. That's exactly why India should have gone ahead and invited them to the swearing-in ceremony.........instead of buckling under this constant pressure to make Pakis look good!
Leaving out Pakis alone would have communicated an unequivocal snub.........but India doesn't seem to have the gumption to explicitly snub Pakis! Unfair to leave out friends (Maldives & Afg) to save face for Pakis!!
