Was thinking about possible retaliation regarding time frames and where as such..
finally came to the conclusion that there is no point in pondering about it, tango attacks are anyway going to happen one way or the other..

one thing is sure that there will not be a attack on army base in the near future, i am assuming that the whole point of the surgical strike that there are red lines which should not be crossed like attacks on army bases.

Now that a definition of red line has been set, now it would be interesting to watch whether army/govt will be expanding the definition of this red line even better in near future.

Posting some internal info, hope national security is not compromised, as enemy already on the receiving end and is aware or has hit them, so hard that they have not wake up from its effects.

I know this is off topic...but....looks like Jayalalitha might have passed away...
I heard that too, in fact it may be true but lets not spread rumors before solid news emerges, besides this ain't the thread for it.

More over, to fight with India they need to move all deployment from west to east. And Afghanistan is also not in a good mood after torkam. They had a small war there.
They will avoid escalation, but will most likely try terror attacks or may try to instigate violence or riots using their media proxies..

@alphacentury @ezsasa et al don't be fooled by russkis, look at this article from sputnik. This shows india in poorer light, a reflection of the game russia intends to play wrt india-pak future conflicts.

India's so called ‘surgical strike' has heightened tensions in the Kashmir valley. Those living along the bordering villages are taking shelter inside the tunnels at night fearing artillery attacks from across the border. Prakash Singh Badal, Chief minister of the Indian State of Punjab, which shares a border with Pakistan, said that after the briefing by the Home Minister Rajnath Singh, they have undertaken a massive evacuation. People have been asked either to move to camps set up by the Government or they can stay with relatives living at least 10 kilometers from the border.

Meanwhile Pakistan has denied that any such strike took place in the disputed region of Kashmir. Earlier during the day, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held a high level meeting to review the security situation along the line of Control. Apparently referring to the so called surgical strike by India, Pakistani Army chief General Raheel Sharif said, "Pakistan can't be coerced through any amount of malicious propaganda." Expressing complete faith in Pakistani Army's capabilities, he added that, "The highest state of vigil is being maintained along the Line of Control, Working Boundary and the international border." One of the Pakistani sources told Sputnik that the hype around the surgical strike had been created just to stop Prime Minister Modi's popularity receding especially after the Kashmir unrest which has gone out of control. Pakistan believes that the 'surgical strike' is nothing but a political gimmick by the Indian establishment to divert attention from the Kashmir problem, Pakistani government sources told Sputnik.

Indus treaty must not be violated, says Medha Patkar

INDORE: Narmada Bachao Andolan leader Medha Patkar today said she was not in favour of India unilaterally scrapping the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan.

In the wake of terror attack on Army base at Uri, some strategic thinkers have demanded that India scrap the water-sharing treaty to pressurise Pakistan.
"We are not in favour of breaking the Indus Water Treaty with the neighbouring country and launching a water war with it. We don't want to turn rivers into a battle-field," Patkar said here.

"Whether the issues related to sharing of water are international or inter-state, they should be solved through dialogue. These problems cannot be solved through politics," she said.

Patkar was here to take part in a seminar on utility of large dams in India.

"Government constructs large dams saying that they would produce hydro-power for supplying electricity to villages and provide water to the rural areas and agriculture. But in reality benefits go to the capitalists," o_Oshe said.

She demanded a review of the policy which favours big dams and immediate stoppage of ongoing construction of such projects.

"We are not saying that big dams are not useful for the country. But alternatives to them should be considered so that ther ..

Pak should take effective steps against terrorists: Russia backs India after surgical strike

It seems like Pakistan is running out of friends fast. The latest to hit out is Russia whose foreign ministry blasted Pakistan in a strongly worded statement. Speaking about the LoC incident, the Russian Foreign Ministry put out a statement saying: “We are concerned with the aggravation lately of the situation along the line of control between India and Pakistan. We are calling on the parties not to allow any escalation of tension and to settle the existing problems by political and diplomatic means through negotiations. We stand for decisive struggle against terrorism in all its manifestations. We expect the government of Pakistan to take effective steps in order to stop the activities of terrorists’ groups in the territory of the country."

Terror attack and instigating violence possible...

but media proxies part may not be possible, pretty sure they will fall in line until 2019 elections. Their whole business runs on identifying themselves with perceived strength. Any doubts they had, would have been clarified with this episode.

Just my Gut feeling porkies will try to attack siachin or Sir Creek becuase these two will give immense morale booster and will be face saver for Porkies
They can't even see Siachen. Its paki propaganda that their Army is deployed in Siachen.

All their posts are west of Saltoro Ridge which is in Indian control.

Also the only two passes to Siachen - Sia La and Bilafond La are held by India since 1984.

Yep, the statement from the foreign embassy wasn't really strong or conclusive either. I just dont get what they will gain by deliberately pissing us off. Also, they might be worried about our USA tilt and are playing some psychological game, particularly ahead of the India Russia summit, though all the deals must have been concluded by now.

Also, I am hearing about some American EW help in this strike. dont believe it though .

Another thing I noticed, most Russian analysts aren't happy about this development. They dont know why this is happening. Its like their govt is being forced to act this way.

Anyway, though I see articles mocking china here and there in Russian media, but anti India pieces have really gone up, particularly by their official media.

This is not the first time. Sputnik reports well in many areas but unfortunately it has a long standing negative India bias that is completely out of touch of current realities. Most likely a hangover from the past when it may have been influenced by pro-paki elements that continues today. Like the State Dept.

As part of the diplomatic offensive to isolate pakistan, one key thrust area that MEA needs to focus on seriously is to influence the media world over. I don't think MEA has worked on this effectively in the past but the time and events now favour us. It won't happen overnight and won't be easy but it needs to be worked on tirelessly and diligently.
