agree. So its just to stop secondary infections...Antibiotics essentially are prescribed to safeguard the patient from any secondary infection- (generally a bacterial infection) when the patient has contracted a virus. Essentially a virus attacks our immune system due to which we become susceptible to contract bacterial or fungal or amoebic infections, therefore a doctor can prescribe antibiotics or antifungal or anti-protozoan medicines.
