What you Love and Hate about DFI?

what i love about the DFI is the way of discussing serious matters here,most of the topics are very informative and helps me to understand the situations related to them and most of the members here are very knowledgeable in defence related matters(this i like the most) plus we have some senior members like Ray sir,Kunal sir,Lethalforce sir,W.G.Ewald sir etc who are like guiding force to us junior members and have a sea of knowledge in defence related matters!but what i dislike most about DFI is that the moderators here are very lenient towards some foreign members of this forum who use this as their advantages and are constantly abusing our country and talking all kinds of gibberish negative things about India!it would be great if the moderators become a little more strict to those who say negative things about our country(well these are my personal views and i have no hard feelings for any member of this forum).

LIKE: Pleasantly surprised at the maturity and civility of the majority of Admins and Mods on the forum (and even a few non MGMT members) while engaging in discussions with them.

DISLIKE: Unsurprisingly, quite a bit of anti-Pakistan slurs and derogatory comments about Pakistan and Pakistanis that make one (speaking for myself) lose interest in discussions.

What I dislike about DFI is that people like Agnostic Muslim, who has much to contribute, goes away into hibernation because of anti Pakistan slurs and so on.

Isn't it the same in PDF where it is anti Indian slurs?

Part of the game that has historical antecedents.

And what is worse in PDF is that the Moderators are morons and cannot relish the truth and that too given with links?

I have been banned because I quoted the Hadith (yes, the Hadith!) where Mohammed asked people to drink Camel urine in reply to one who said that Indians are cow piss drinker.

Your fool Moderator banned me for quoting the Hadith (as if I wrote it) and without realising it was from Bukhari, the first to author a Sahih.

Imagine that fool Moderator who thinks he is a pious Muslim knocking his head on the prayer mat five times a day has no clue of his own religion and is peeved that a kaffir like me is telling his conscience to wake up and learn or enlist in a madrassa!

I am sorry I say all this, but then I have never been economical in stating what I feel.

No offence meant, but we have to take the thick with the thin and even if there are irritations, what is important is the interaction where those who are serious sift the wheat from the chaff and educate themselves, inspite of their beliefs or views!

That is the underlining aim of forums is my belief and not the issue of winning or losing a discussion.

Forums, to my way of looking, is not a competition but a vehicle to interact and learn, if one can.

My 'hibernation' is due to increased obligations at work and home than anything else, and this is also evident on the new Pakistani forum I am a part of.

Actually, its very difficult to please everyone on this or any other forum because you will have very diverse and conflicting views flying from all around. Some people want this forum to only allow Indian members and give free hand in abusing foreigners and some here want more foreign member's participation. We cannot please everyone, so its better for the members to accept this fact. We don't want this forum to be a monotonous ones like some other Indian forums are.

We are quite tolerant to both Indian and foreign members for expressing their views but we have acted when things get out of hand especially personal attacks and off-topic posts. We believe that having foreign members make forum more vibrant and we can learn from each other and see one another's respective point of views. I'm sure many of you have learnt a lot from Chinese members about their defence, security and culture.

Let it be foreign or domestic If found offensive and against rules you must report, Action will be taken accordingly..

There's a wealth of knowledge and experience tap here on DFI via the users on this forum who have served in the armed forces of various countries. Ask lots of questions.

Likes: The wealth of knowledge on the defense technology specially the running posts on the Tanks and its armour with detailed design aspects, as I being from a different field al together an entusiasist I hang around a lot to learn. The mod's are very even handed this are good for the forum in long run as it will bring in more posters from different countries.

Dislikes: : The tendencies of some of US to use derogatory terms for personal insult & attacks to others members. Infact I was also involved in few such cases, it should be avoided under any circumstances or provocation for the good of the forum.
