I wanted to know why western are planning to get their hands dirty .

Why donot they allow big bullies of gulf to get their hand dirty in it.

After all doesn`t big bullies of gulf have all their modern war toys .they have from f-15 ,f-16 ,typhoon etc to different countries.why this countries are going to use it.or its mere a show-off
GCC preferred mode of warfare is via cheque-book. As you mentioned, the latest and greatest planes are nothing but show-off. It's said even qatar/kuwait have superior arms than iran. But if only they knew to use them effectively. Even earlier, wars with israel(which israel won) it was egypt/syria and maybe iraq who did most of fighting.

If America do attack Syria would they use the F-22?
Yes they Will ..Some of the F 22's are Stationed in UAE ..

Once a F 22 was closely escort a UAV near the Arabian Gulf because of Possible interception from IRAF F 14's

Very true, they have the toys but no idea how to use them properly. A conversation with any British,American soldier about the Saudi Army and National Guard is going to be among the funniest conversations you might have.

Russia to dispatch aircraft carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov to Syria's Tartus

The command of the Russian Navy did not change its plans to dispatch the heavy aircraft carrying missile cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov in the Syrian city of Tartus at the end of this year, an informed source in the Russian Defence Ministry told Itar-Tass on Friday.

"At the end of the year, most likely in early December, the Project 11435 heavy aircraft carrying missile cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov will go on a long sea mission, during which she will call at the Russian logistic naval base, which is deployed in the Syrian city of Tartus," he said.

The source refused to make public the exact date for the cruiser to leave its base in Severomorsk.

"Despite a sharply deteriorating situation in this region (in Syria), the Russian naval command does not refuse from a scheduled mission of the cruiser to the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea. The schedule of the mission is already agreed upon," the source said.

The source also noted that a forthcoming visit of the only Russian aircraft carrying cruiser in Tartus is not linked with a tense situation in Syria.

Last time the flagship Admiral Kuznetsov of the Russian Navy paid a routine visit to Tartus in January 2012 in the naval aircraft carrying grouping.

Is it just me or others as well. Usually its the politicians who "mould" public opinion. Kerry is to speak soon about syria situation. I was just watching CNN, they were interviewing people who were against action. Usually if the state has decided, they use media to pass on that message to public. Its not just TV channels, even newspapers in UK/US are not "putting across" the state pov. Its really strange. Even in india, we know how media as a whole bats for the state. Also UK govt couldn't manage UK parliament, this is very very strange imo. I read that some the ruling party members also voted against any action being taken. Somehow it's very difficult to believe that politicians are heeding to public concern.

Re: Syria raw and update.

Obama Says 'No Boots on Ground' in Possible Syria Strike

US President Barack Obama said Friday that a potential military strike on Syria would be a "limited" operation aimed at punishing the Syrian government for a chemical weapons attack it allegedly carried out last week, comments that came amid flagging support from American citizens and allies for such an operation.

"We're not considering any open-ended commitment. We're not considering any boots-on-the-ground approach," Obama said Friday in the White House, adding that he had "not made any decisions" about what actions the United States would take.

Obama made the statements an hour after the White House released a declassified intelligence assessment of an apparent Aug. 21 chemical weapons attack in the Damascus suburbs, which the administration asserts "with high confidence" was carried out by the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

The US strategy seems to be:

1) Find out which side is winning the war
2) Hit that side hard, but not so hard that it loses the war

Keep the wound bleeding, and drain both the jihadists and Iran/Russia for as long as possible.

Because China buys over 10% of its oil and natural gas from the GCC, so giving Assad any more support would place those supplies into jeopardy.

So what?? Thats a purely commercial transaction, isn't it?? You have issues with US, inspite of it being a BIG trading partner of yours. You have issues with japan, but you have huge trade with them. So how different it would be wrt gcc, then??
