ISRO is helping them, now they can use ISRO's launch sites iirc.

Also, Skyroot is aiming to launch Vikram 1 as early as next year. Would be great if they launch it before SSLV kek.

Problem is r these able to survive, if no-order came , because if they want to grow they hv to invest in research also and space science is very heavy money consumer.

Wonderful, but I want to see some actual achievements i.e launches! India cannot expect to be like Elon Musk et al, but it shouldn't be far behind either! Hope these developments in the private sector come to some kind of fruition in the next 6 months-1 year.

A PSLV contract will see entities outside the ISRO build a launch vehicle end to end, for the first time. In the race to win it are two consortia and a firm, including an Adani-led group and L&T. These three entities had submitted their bids on June 30, in response to an RFP (Request for Proposal) issued by NSIL (New Space India Limited).

These three entities had submitted their bids on July 30, in response to an RFP (Request for Proposal) issued by NSIL (New Space India Limited), a TOI report said.

NSIL was initially meant to be the commercial leg of ISRO, however, it was later mandated with productionising launch vehicles, owning satellites and more.

In August 2019, NSIL had announced an expression of interest (EoI) for five PSLVs, to which five entities had responded. Then, in December 2020, the RFP was issued for the same.

“There were five players who responded to the EOI; three have submitted bids after the RFP just over three weeks ago,” a senior official said.

A consortium of HAL and L&T, another comprising Adani-Alpha Design, BEL and BEML are the two group entities, while BHEL has bid as a single firm.

According to the Department of Space, this contract will boost the Make-in-India initiative and will allow ISRO to launch more satellites each year.

NSIL chairman and managing director Radhakrishnan D, said: “The techno-commercial evaluation is underway, after which the bids will be opened. We are hopeful of completing the whole process in a couple of months, and cannot comment on anything more at this juncture.”

A source has said that the contract may be given by the end of this year. The chosen entity will be a licensed producer.

Although ISRO has worked with the industry closely, this is the first time that a PSLV will be completely built by the industry.

The PSLV had its first flight in September 1993, and has completed more than 50 launch missions over 25 years. NSIL, whose mandate has been expanded to own and operate capital-intensive assets — satellites and launch vehicles — has plans of investing around Rs 10,000 crore over the next five years.

Considering what Orbitx India Aerospace is trying to achieve, they are pretty low profile, and not mentioned among the major space start-ups. Remarkable, if they launch their rocket "Atal" by year end as planned. One trusts this is not a hyped up company like that one( the name escapes me) claiming they were going to develop and launch their own hypersonic vehicle promptly! We know that didn't happen.
