The news is saying that all terrorists of *this specific attack* have been neutralized and they are doing the standard combing and sanitation. But I vaguely remember a news report yesterday mentioning that 11 terrorists have entered and a red alert was sounded after the SP of that area was kidnapped. No news about the remaining 6 apart from the 5 insects that were squished today, that is the worrying part.So how many in total? 5? Or is there anyone left?
Initial reports are always vague. They are gathered from crowds nearby as no authority officially gives a number in the begining. Definitely not 11.The news is saying that all terrorists of *this specific attack* have been neutralized and they are doing the standard combing and sanitation. The news said these were intel reports. Since these were infiltrated from the forests, it's unlikely that it was HUMINT. They probably picked up electronic chatter. Anyway, the debate over the number of terrorists is useless as one can never be too sure. Terrorism will always be a 'ongoing operation' separated by sporadic lulls in skirmishes.Initial reports are always vague. They are gathered from crowds nearby.
The more Pakistan participates in the Muslim peace keeping forces and protection of Saudis the more attacks will follow in India. The game plan is to keep Indian intel agfencies busy while they fight in the middle east and Afghanistan.Strange that Indians are instantly blaming Pakistan even when the op has not ended. There could be groups from within India itself. Conclusions should wait till all facts are available.
We'll know once the operation is completely finished. The news said these were intel reports. Since these were infiltrated from the forests, it's unlikely that it was HUMINT. Well said. It seems the blurred lines in a global coalition are becoming less blurred day by day with various nations shaking out of ambiguity and proactively picking sides. One can also not underestimate the impact of Indian endorsement of the Russian view point on Syria and American uneasiness about it. We have been making gestures, and strategic moves that has set us firmly into the Russian camp, be it Defence minister's statement about 'willing to send troops to Syria only under a UN mandate not a under a US mandate' or a recent joint broadcasting between Times Now and Russia Today news channels which shows a growing convergence of Indian and Russian strategic interests. The game plan is to keep Indian intel agencies busy while they fight in the middle east and Afghanistan.
No Indian casualties ?4 killed, 1 still suspected to be at large. Hunting in progress.
News channels are flashing that the operation is over and standard combing operations are going on to find booby traps. One channel also said that a senior military official will be briefing Defense minister and NSA within an hour and some sort of statement is expected. This, I saw an hour ago, so a statement might be out anytime soon. We'll know once the operation is completely finished.
last i heard they were 6-7 in number if four are killed then what about the rest 2-3 terrorist rats ?4 killed, 1 still suspected to be at large. Hunting in progress.

Based on that backdrop, I say, let's not rule out a CIA hand in today's attacks to send a message to the Indian establishment. They did the same during the whole cold war phase whereby they started multiple insurgencies within India and to top it, endorsed the use of Pakistan and China to encircle us to keep us from participating in any coalition against US interests.
Let me be sure,99% of the terrorists are the from a single religion, why do you think this incident is any different.Strange that Indians are instantly blaming Pakistan even when the op has not ended. There could be groups from within India itself. Conclusions should wait till all facts are available.
One civilian has been killed, whose vehicle was hijacked.last i heard they were 6-7 in number if four are killed then what about the rest 2-3 terrorist rats ?
I believe it was a much more sinister and wholesome encirclement. We only concentrate on the tactical aspects which are visible to the naked eye but the underlying strategic gameplan of the US isn't very well debated. We concentrate on US assistance to Pakistan during all the wars it has fought and by virtue of having won those wars we feel that we have surmounted the challenge but the real American strategic objective was elsewhere. Given that our attention and resources were focused on the western front we couldn't concentrate on the development of the north east. By keeping us busy on the western front, they were free to steadily sow seeds of dissent in the north eastern states by arms smuggling and religious conversions. At the same time they bought over in Sri Lanka(LTTE), Myanmar (Kachin Independence Army) to prevent India from cultivating any influence in these smaller nations. They want to bring back the days of late 80's and early 90's where Indian agencies were busy with Kashmir Jihadist terror and Sikh separatists.

They are doing the same thing with the Rohyinga drama right now (it's a matter for another debate). But the greatest strategic bunny the US pulled out of the magic hat, and managed to dumbfound us Indians is that by maintaining a peculiar power balance of ground forces (in particular) on the Pakistani border front, it forces us to spend a larger % of our defense on ground forces as opposed to Air and Naval assets which, they fear, will grant us an enlarged sphere of influence for power projection. It is because of American assistance to Pakistan that our defense spending has to be divided as 50% for Army and only 30% and 20% on Airforce and Navy respectively. This ensures that our strategic reach is stunted and we can't play any part in any future areas of interest like the Central Asian Republics, or Africa or Middle east. The US has done more to keep us contained than Pakistan and China combined and we only seem to be complaining about China's string of pearls. The US also invited China, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan to form a quadrilateral for dialogue in Afghanistan recently, thereby snubbing us and tacitly stating that the US will not allow India to be a stakeholder in Afghanistan despite all the costs (financial, material, personnel, terrorist attacks) that India has incurred due to our commitment to Afghanistan.
