The British are lazy.

Their genes have the strains of imperial people.

Now that they cannot piggy back to prosperity and at the same time cannot cast of the imperialist pretension, they are being left out of the race.

Poor blokes.

They are not the same as the one who worked to make their Empire!

Re: British work-ethic condemned by Indian steel tycoon

Europeans in general have it too easy when you compare work times to other countries. They get the most annual leave and they work the leaast amount per week. Compare that with the Japanese, Americans or Indians and you will see a big difference.
Irrespective of whatever you say or think, my observation is - if these guys get the work done, it is exceptionally well executed and usually always on time. OTOH The quality of work done in India is abysmal. Just look at the condition of roads as a simple like to like comparison.

We Indians love to think we are world class, but we are not. We are not likely to be rated world class until we start becoming more punctual and more honest.

The Indian head of an international steel company has branded British workers 'lazy' and 'unwilling to go the extra mile', a day after his firm announced the axeing of 1,500 staff.
Folks, Ratan Tata rarely sports an opinion about anything. His frustration stems from the portion highlighted above. In India , work carried out by private industries indeed is world class. So, letÅ› stop the unnecessary self flagellation.Corus and JLR are indeed in deep malaise. The jobs of these British workers are in the line. But Tata does not observe any desperation, any attempt to defend their occupation. This indeed is deeply troubling thing to observe.

He told The Times that he had found staff unwilling to participate in meetings after 5pm if they had a train to catch home, even if he had flown in from India.

And he said it was impossible to get hold of workers from either firm at the weekends, starting from 3.30pm on Friday.
Is this the ideal behavier of people , who's jobs are on the line? What would you folks say if this was India in contention here? We have seen such self-destructive behavior among the workers in West Bengal. Let's not defend the indefencible!
