Wouldn't it be significantly cheaper if ammo is made in India!

Bulk FMJ training ammo costs anywhere between $0.3-0.5/round while hollowpoints are twice that in the US. It's relatively much cheaper if you just buy used casings from the range and spend some time to make your own brass

it would have been cheaper if market was allowed to play out, but Govt of India does not want guns and ammo to be freely available to public. last i checked, one is allowed to buy only 50 rounds (subject to correction) per year per gun/calibre for a licensed non-sportsperson.

on top of this, police constable used to come to our house to take the guns for them to be submitted to police station armoury whenever there were elections or riots in the area. after elections, we have to go to police station to get them back. this is from a few decades ago, it was the case then. it's a hassle to own a gun in most parts of India.

they could have got them if they didn't go the tender way , its a great rifle a lot of foreign militaries use it ..

The problem is that every gun , specially sniper rifles are different even if they are in same caliber meaning the user has to train again in a new gun to get the gist of it and if not trained well , it will lead to inconsistencies during use as user will apply his experience of one gun to another .

Just standardize your shit already .
