If I can make a few suggestions, then perhaps a smaller red dot sight may be needed for the AKs.

Plate carriers may also make a difference

Any M4 style weapons in service of Kerala Police?

Nope.No m4 style weapons.iirc Karnataka Garudas have some colt variant in 5.56 and Greyhounds have colts in 7.62x51.
Coming to plate carriers what we were issued is absolute shit .Its the most earliest one Indians had ever seen.It hangs down to such extent that upto your nipples the upper body is too exposed also its adds upto weight and hinters mobility especially hiking.
Yes the plate carriers shown in the pic are more ergonomic, but govt or those making selection wont buy anything useful.

5.45 ammo better recoil and almost same terminal ballistics
is also rusty, propellants leave residues that fuggs up internals of stoner-pattern direct impingement guns, so much that after firing some 500 rounds you must have to clean it up thoroughly from barrel to the gas system else it'll start corroding it from inside-out, first step is of course buildup of surface corrossion and so; not that much ideal for a standard issue military rifle, probably ok for well-resourced militia group etc
