Now it makes sense, multiple variants for various units in AIRFORCE, different for Garuds (AK-15 maybe as reported) and rest for other units, requirements is for 1.5 Lakh rifles in IAF as per D-Matrix.

Yes they do but the difference is similar to buying a second hand electronic item and a brand new one.

Though we are overpaying Ruskies we should get AK 15 for this price... If it's off the shelf. Otherwise simply buy from arsenal for army and Trichy will upgrade itself in batches too.

Can’t they start testing with OFB made 5.56 NATO ammo atleast until proper ammo they desire is available instead of just waiting?

He is just playing around bro. Basically they are trying to see how they can copy a western AR and assemble here without any lawsuit by any patent holder.

Hasn’t the patent for the AR15 design lapsed? They only need to make cosmetic changes and ensure furniture like stock n all are either unique or get a license for them, right?
