Misfortune. Most civilian users go for .300 blackout in ar pattern rifles for short range engagements and for longer ranges 6.5 Creedmoor. Basically it is 21st century's .280 British.
I’ll still go for 6.8, what about telescopic ammo?

Which firearms are chambered for this round?
Technically you can make any current gen firearm in this round,
AKs...AR-15s....AR-18 pattern one like FN SCAR...anything.

^aftermarket "kit" to convert a standard SCAR-16 into 6.5 Grendel one, a barrel, a bolt and a slightly curved version of STANAG

Why can’t we do some Ammo JV for 6.8mm round? And then induct MCIWS?
There are a lot of known and unknown reason behind that. One is that of ia changing goalpost of its assault rifle calibre requirement. In that scenario, supposing arde developed a 6.8 rifle the end user will change it to 6.5.
Whatever, development elsewhere is that SiG Sauer's 6.8x51 SiG Fury ammunition can be compatible with 7.62x51 rifle just with a barrel swap. Their ammunition offers 20% more energy than 7.62x51 with traditional manufacturing technology. While, True Velocity is another oem in US which has demonstrated conversion of existing 7.62x51 rifle to their 6.8 TVCM polymer case ammunition with a simple barrel swap. This offers the advantage of significantly lighter ammunition and possibly lower costs of manufacturing when the technology matures.
