Lagta hai isko

Sight kholna nai sikhaya hai ise.
Humko khud nahi pata sight kholna, doosron ko kya sikhayenge.

Till now seen only 2-3 occasions (mostly in firing ranges) where the sights are actually opened. Bas residual sights se kaam chala rahe, even in actual patrols:

Even in areas close to threat zones:

IA ko shayad lagta hai ek baar firefight start hojaye tab jaa ke sight kholna hai. Koi disaster ho tab tak nahi change honge aise SOPs.

Flip-sights from good makers (ours are from IMI) are rugged, not easy to damage in normal operation. No problem with keeping them up. They're only meant to be folded down when the rifle is being stored somewhere (or when relying on optic for aiming, which we aren't).

AR-15/AR-10 SOP for patrol forces (especially those would deploy near likes of LoC) is with rifle at the ready, round in the chamber with safety on. The only thing the shooter should do when its time to engage is to move the selector from safe to semi. Shouldn't be sitting there fiddling with sights.

Arsenal AKs are available in the range 30-35K.

Whereas OFB is quoting 35k (for Ghatak stamped receiver)), 42K (for Ghatak (machined receiver)) and 45k (for TAR (machined receiver)).
Bro a quality rifle lasts for atleast 3 decades. Better to buy arms from foreign vendors directly rather than pushing an overpriced AK up inefficient OFB's throat.
If 5.56 is the need, IA can go for Sig 516 or MCX which will easily complement 716s. If 7.62 is the need, IA can go for multiple orders of Arsenal's latest offerings. I had read somewhere that after reciving orders from India, Arsenal arms had to run 3 shift manning at all their production houses to fulful the order deadlines. This is something OFB will never do.

Another thing is people saying about corporatization of OFB. If OFB sells their junk at such high rates in today's date, what is the probability they will reduce the cost when they get corporatized?

Pretty high, the reason's the costs are so high is extreme inefficiency and abhorrent quality control combined with nepotism. A corporate structure deals with all of that pretty effectively, they want to make money. This inevitably means making the best use of a budget, demanding results, thinking long term and improving everything in general. The reason why DPSUs rarely work in this country is that there is absolutely no incentive to do so. And the problem isn't really the lower class of workers, it's the higher ups with terrible management that suck the money and shift the blame.

This is what we should buy from Russia!
View attachment 83230
Why in the fuck would we do that?

Why are members so fixated with the likes of AK, SCAR, etc. One needs to understand our requirements and also our own R&D capabilities before making these fanboy posts just because the paint on the gun looks tacticool.

And not to mention 90% of what you see on the surface is US civilian aftermarket accessories. So much for Russia. Grip, optic, magnifier, suppressor, LAM, flashlight, handguard, foregrip are all American.
