No doubt, It was one of the most successful rifle, Unfortunately it came at very late in war like most German weapons..
AK-47 is a updated StG 44..

Can you shed some light on the scope used here?

The Scope is for Short range purposes, As 7.92x33 is not more than 100-150m..
Detail are hard to find as its a WW2 Scope..

Indeed. Kalashnikov designed the AK 47 based off aspects of the German StG 44, and the American M1 Garand/Carbine and Remington Model 8 weapons. Truly a great assault rifle.

As for the scope; it's similar to the scope used on G43 rifles, known as a ZF4. Here's a picture of what might be the same scope:
