You didn't understand the premise of his argument. Think about this from a civilian market perspective. Russia has an incentive to buy local planes due to sanctions. But tell me, what incentive do airlines in other countries have to buy IL-96?

All modern civilian planes for passengers are twin-engined, including hundreds of airplanes ordered by Air China, China Southern, China Eastern and Cathay Pacific. All are twin-engine jets, mostly Boeing 787 and Airbus A350.

Even if Aeroflot orders 100 of these new IL-96 planes, it is not enough to justify the cost. At least 500-600 airplanes need to be sold to justify the cost of a new line. The Russian aviation market is nowhere that big to support such massive orders, meaning that UAC will have to look for exports. Embraer broke even on its E2 series only after it crossed the 400-order mark, that too on a very famous and cost-efficient airplane.

Russia has no issues flying them as they are an oil-rich nation but other countries who import these airplanes may not be that gifted.
Chinese and Russians love 4 engined planes. China and Russia subsidize airlines to operate 4 engined planes.

Sure. Not a single new quad-jet order. Whatever is there in the fleet of the 3 largest airlines in China is old 747s on the verge of retirement. Only to be replaced by the Airbus 350 and Boeing 787.

You started a thread on civil aviation but are not able to understand the basic nuances of it. :dude:

Xi and Putin will never ride in a 2 engine jet. Only 4 engine jet.
You are completely missing the point and showing what a bone grade retard you are. We don't care whether Putin or Xi flies in a 4 engine jet. We are talking about the commercial aviation market you stupid dolt.

You are making me wish that this forum perma ban you.

US president plane called Air Force One will never be 2 engined. It is 747 not 787,

COMAC is making C929. Russia left C929 project to make Il-96-400M instead. Both countries will use C929 and Il-96-400M.
Read again what I am asking. You said Russians and Chinese love subsidized 4 engine jets, but yet why COMAC 929 gonna be another 2 engine jet ?

Quadjet is expensive to develop and build. They are not used by civilians. Only Xi needs a quadjet. Xi buy Il-96-400M from Russia after Boeing terminated 747 production line.

So by "chinese love quadjet". You meant Xi loves quad jet. Then why were you talking about subsidy as if there will be a fleet of it ? If there will be a fleet then why COMAC isn't developing own ?

Only Xi uses quadjet. Chinese civilians use C929 which is cheaper and less safe.

Xi won't use a twinjet and the US's Air Force One won't be a twinjet either.
For the nth time, this is not about heads of the countries! Civilian airplanes are meant for passengers. Passengers fly them the most. Airplane models are not revived for just presidential flights or politicians - they are revived because there is a business opportunity 99% of which is shared by commercial passengers and business jets.

Russia's biggest problems are corruption and lack of funds. Funds are generated by securing customers which it is unable to do due to the Western stranglehold on the civil aviation market. Russia's "Take-it-or-leave-it" marketing style leaves a lot to be desired and thus they lose markets in countries where they face stiff competition from French and American aerospace industries.

If they identify their flaws and improve upon it, Russia can easily compete with the West and even pose a serious technological challenge.
