The shock and awe surprise me after knowing the full history behind this conflict and about georgia etc.. Any decent guy in strategic community would have guessed this war before years ... Now they want to divide the world order in to democratic vs totalitarian .. good vs evil .. As much as people dislike non alignment movement that was the most moralistic thing to do back then .. But yeah it was not realistic for bunch of poor countries to have a say in this matter .

It really is a senseless war.
Like brothers fighting against each other.
Both are of same ethnic stock - Slavs.
Its like the US and UK fighting against each other. Both being Anglo Saxons.

I will not support Russia if they employ Nazi Germany like tactics and indulge in gross human rights violations.
But certain facts have to be noted.
Russia is undoubtedly an Great Power and still an nuclear Superpower. Though economically they are under performing and well below their potential.
So they rightly feel that they should have an sphere of influence at least in their neighbourhood and safeguard their security.

Nothing very offensive. Most great powers did not take kindly to their smaller neighbours posing an security threat to them.

I am sure that the United States will not like Mexico or Canada to become security threats to itself. Will the United States renounce the use of force if tomorrow Mexico comes under strong Chinese influence and even allows its territory to host Chinese missiles (probably nuclear armed) and other Chinese arms. Or will they allow Canada to become an Russian ally and threaten the US.

I believe the United States will not rule out the use of force to overthrow the Government's of both Mexico and Canada. Because vital national security interests are in peril.

The Cuban missile crisis is still an reminder of the dangers.

So, why does NATO have to continuously enlarge and reach the land borders of Russia. It is a military alliance and may be seen as threatening by most Russians. Thereby provoking them.

If Ukraine had been made strictly neutral and not considered for NATO membership it would not have acted as a trigger.

So both the Western alliance led

VDV have been pretty dismal this war. The fact that the general died this early into the war sums it up. Not sure why so many Indians here simp after Russia more than russians themselves. Worse than western sepoys

Dude should worry about the Chinese flying sorties over Taiwan ADIZ everyday.

If Taiwan is not an option, India is most definitely not an option. Any one of those sorties one day could turn into precision strikes on military infrastructure and US would do little more than bitch or moan, especially now after the Ukraine fiasco has called their bluff.
