They will not be able to hold it with the available forces. Mobilization in Russia has not been announced. In order to save their army, they need to regroup. To announce the capture of Mariupol without Azovstal is like refusing to storm the inner castle in the Middle Ages.

I seriously refuse to believe any amount of propaganda coming from the west regarding the war . Due to the internet blackout of russian news platforms we are being fed with biased information which does not reflect the ground reality of the situation . Why aren't they telling the world that russia is already on the verge of cutting off ukraine's access to the black sea . Most of their coast is under russian control now . Kiev was just a diversion tactic to stretch the Ukrainian military on multiple fronts . Because of the assault on Kiev the ukranians had to deploy most of their armed forces in the north where russia didn't really mean to capture anything . The ukrainians got fooled by the russians and now a considerably lighter formation of troops is left to defend the south while most of their formations were sent up north .
