While the Rudram-1 NG-ARM is designed to eliminate X-band target engagement radars used by ground-based SHORADS, the Rudram-2 NG-ARM is intended to eliminate L-band and S-band gapfiller radars used by MR-SAM systems. Both of these radars are used to fill up gaps in coverage. The low-band long-range airspace surveillance radars are the targets of the Rudram-3 ARM, which is designed to destroy them. Rudram-1 will therefore be responsible for the destruction of HQ-17A-type SHORADS, Rudram-2 will be responsible for the destruction of LY-80E LOMADS, and Rudram-3 will be responsible for the destruction of LR-SAMs such as HQ-9 HIMADS.
